65 Years and Counting!
HOW EXCITING! The annual Primetime Emmy Awards aired on CBS last night, and what a brilliant show it was! Some of televisions most talented actors gathered in Los Angeles for this memorable event that has made it to its 65th year. What’s the joy in watching the Emmys? Besides the superb fashion, the gut-busting laughs and the super-star status? The joy is in seeing these hard-working actors reap the fruits of their labor for providing us with some of the the best shows on television.
My Best Dressed
Play By Play
For his second time as an Emmy host, the hilariously funny Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) opened the show, but this time he had help. Previous Emmy presenters took Neil to school on how to host the Emmys. Jimmy Fallon, Jane Lynch and a few others hopped on stage to give Neil some hosting tips and to remind him that he won’t be there next year. Of course, Neil shared musical numbers that wowed and delivered punch lines that floored. The tributes to those who passed this year were filled with sincerity and was incredibly heartfelt. James Gandolfini’s tribute, given by Edie Falco, was sentimental and touching as well as the others who were honored.
And The Winners Are...
The speeches on stage this year were received with big laughs. Merrit Wever was nominated by Neil for having the best award speech; it was short and straight to the point. Something no one was expecting. Michael Douglas received the most laughs as he shared half his Emmy with fellow actor Matt Damon.
