Pictures of my kids on railroad tracks

Updated on August 31, 2012

Have you ever walked by a railroad track and thought about taking a few pictures? I do this all the time and I finally found a perfect spot to stop and take some photos without any background commotion like cars, other streets, trash, etc. This spot isn't too far from my home and has a train sitting on the tracks that looks like it has been there for a while. This time we didn't walk any farther up the track then the end car but next time I will be sure to see if there is anything attached to the other end! Next time I will also get more pics of just the train and tracks. There were so many rail ties and metal pieces laying along the track, my brain wanted me to take so many pictures but with the three kids there I had enough to worry about! So here's some of my pictures....

I'm not sure what the best way to take Train Track photos would be but I used my 75-300mm zoom lens for my Cannon and was able to get these shots. I did like sitting on the tracks better then standing up because it was easier to be down at the kids' level. They LOVED being able to climb on the train and we only did this because Daddy wasn't too far off screen of the camera. We used tracks that haven't been run on in a long while so it was more of an "old" feeling (and safe) then anything. Once we got home I did edit a few of the pictures I took. I love adding just a little extra to a few pictures. The one on the right is one of my favorites of the day.

Next time we go back maybe there will be some snow on the ground or it could even be raining. There's really no end to the amazing photos that can be taken on or near train tracks. I might even try taking a few props out to my next shoot to see how they turn out. I love taking pictures!
