Recording A Song – Making A Music CD For Your Own Pleasure

Updated on March 24, 2013

One of my ambitions that is on my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days is to write and record my own song. I love singing so would like to try my hand at making my very own CD. I got the idea from a friend of mine. He recorded a beautiful song as a present for his mother for mother’s day.

He was able to do it very quickly and cheaply by getting a friend to record the instrumental music on a disc. He sang the vocals and mixed them together. The end result was a really neat sounding recording. Just his voice and the piano were needed to make this song sound really special.

After he gave a copy of his CD to his mother, he kept a copy on his Ipod and let other people hear his efforts. I wasn’t the only one that was impressed. Some people even told him that this could be released as a professional recording. Although he was very flattered, he declined this possibility. It was a one time thing that he did for his mum and that was that.

He enjoyed the process but didn’t feel the need to pursue it any further. I am happy to say that I have a copy of the song on my mp3 player and listen to it whenever I am out and about.

Create Your Own Music CD

If you have any ambition to make your own recording, it is really simple to do, so I am told. If you have written your own song, all you need is your melody. If you play an instrument you can record your own music and vocals.

If not then record yourself singing the melody and if you know someone who plays a musical instrument, ask them to listen to it and see if they can play something that would compliment it.

Once you are happy with their interpretation of your song, record it on your Ipod. You could kill two birds with one stone and sing along while your friend is playing the music. Then download your song onto a CD and you have your very own personal recording.

Where To Look For Music Makers

If you don’t know anyone who can provide the music for you, you could put an advert on or for someone who will offer their services for free.

You will be surprised how many people will respond to do something like this. You could get a range of people answering your ad from students looking to add to their portfolio or just people who love making music in their spare time.

This is certainly something I will be doing at some point. I am even thinking about making a small video clip to go with it.

After finding out from Ysdata how easy it is to make a semi pro You Tube video on your own computer, I will hope to try my hand at this so that I not only have my own personal recording but also a video to go with it too.
