Movies are a great pastime and a free DVD rental from RedBox hits the spot. RedBox and their affiliates create codes for free DVD rentals to get people into their stores and comfortable renting from the kiosk. The good news is that anyone, even regular users, can take advantage of these opportunities.

The codes listed below work all the time. Some codes work everywhere and some are specific to certain stores like Walgreen’s. The codes below are updated on a regular basis as more codes become available.

For your free DVD rental from RedBox enter the code on the main screen of your local RedBox kiosk. To use multiple codes you may need to use a different credit/debit card. RedBox requires a credit/debit card in case you don’t return the DVD. In most cases, you can only get one free rental per credit/debit card number.

In addition to the RedBox codes below, I recommend you sign up for email alerts at Once a month (or more), RedBox will send you a code for your one-time use for a free DVD rental. Don’t pass up a free movie a month.

Finally, use the comment section below to help me keep current with RedBox codes. If a code does not work or if you find a new code, let me know. I can edit this article so everyone can benefit.

The following codes do NOT work in the Seattle (and likely other) areas:

DVDONUS, Rentonme, Breakroom, DWTFREE4, GHBH4433, and prowl. Also at QFC and Kroger stores, DVDKROG does NOT work. I tried these codes at about 6 different stores and they did not work with any credit/debit card in November, 2013.

Tom, most codes only work once; some work once a week; and some work once per credit card. No code gives unlimited free movies.
