Review of the Album "Magic Forest" by Finnish Power Metal Band Amberian Dawn
Magic Forest Is the First Amberian Dawn Album With Original Songs After Heidi Parviainen's Departure
Finnish power metal band Amberian Dawn still impressed me with the entry of then new vocalist “Capri” Paivi Virkkunnen so here we go with another album review of a female fronted metal band. For those of you that enjoyed the review of the album If Then Else, get ready to hear an entirely different kind of metal album, an album filled with somewhat operatic vocals and high quality power metal. The album being reviewed is the one called "Magic Forest" released in 2014. The title track has this folk kind of feel to it, kind of like the band Finntroll. But don’t worry, this album has lyrics all in English so it will be easier for many to follow along. Capri tries to be an opera singer in this song and she doesn’t do that bad of a job.
"Cherish My Memory"
Why review another Amberian Dawn album?
Doing this review gives me immense satisfaction, not just because of my love of female fronted metal bands but Finland is a country with more than just band such as Stratovarius and Nightwish. Count Amberian Dawn as another Finnish band destined for excellence even though they have been around since 2006 and changed vocalists.

"Warning"
"Magic Forest" Album Review and Analysis
“Cherish My Memory” starts in a powerful way as the sound is very mature and polished. I started writing this review in November 2019 and we are about to head into a new year in a short amount of time and I’d like the world to witness the creative talents of Finland‘s Amberian Dawn. “Dance of Life” lyrically might as well be about dancing day and night being exposed to the highs and lows of life. Heaven and Earth can join forces and dance together creating a musical harmony. This album isn’t perfect musically but it flows nicely. “Agonizing Night” lyrically is about what happens when your soul feels like it is wounded and tainted. The song’s message is that we should not give up and we must fight through this adversity and make it through this agonizing night. Some nights in life can be agonizing or they feel like torture to get through but isn’t that part of life? “Warning” is a good song that has the message that we have to follow our heart and knowing what our sins have been. We have to keep our thoughts pure and white. Even though the lyrics are partially fantasy based in this one, it might as well apply to real life in a way. Humans have sinned and have had thoughts that are dirty and not pure. We have the potential to improve if we keep control of our minds and thoughts. “I’m Still Here” is a song that tells the story of a mother that misses her beloved son. She is wondering whether her son can still hear her as she calls out to him. Memorial is a song that lyrically is about the struggles that can happen in a monarchy as the king and queen can be involved in a battle of inheritance. Magic Forest is a good album even by Amberian Dawn's standards and it is good, don't get me wrong but it may not be as good as their earlier releases.
