Riding In Cars With Cops
Last week I went to Myrtle Beach (MB is in Horry County, South Carolina by the way) and I had myself a blast. I blew through all of my money and when it came time to go home I discovered that my car wouldn’t start.
I found myself stuck in MB without any money and a car that wouldn’t crank up. I needed to get back home to Oconee County, South Carolina which is approximately 286 miles from MB.
What was I to do? I got what I thought was a genius idea at the time. I called my friend back in the OC and I instructed her to go to the Oconee County Sheriff Department and take out a warrant in my name.
Once my friend did that, I walked into the Horry County Sheriff Department and I asked them to run my name because I wanted to see if there was any warrants out for my arrest.
Well, they ran my name, the warrant that my friend took out popped up and they placed me in a holding cell for no longer than two days until a sheriff deputy from the OCSD came and picked me up.
I had me a ride home and I was happy as a clam riding in the back of that police cruiser until I got to the Oconee County Detention Center and I discovered that my friend took out a felony first degree burglary and now I’m facing 25 to life. Suddenly, that free ride home wasn’t worth it abd I regret that I didn’t think to specifically instruct my friend to take out a misdemeanor and not a felony.
