Rocking Metallica

Metallica is one of Americas favorite heavy metal bands. They formed in 1981 in Los Angeles. The drummer, Lars Ulrich started the whole thing with the posting of an ad in the local newspaper. The original band members were James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Lar himself and Robert Trujillo. Now they are sometimes accompanies by Ron McGovney, Dave Mustaine, Cliff Burton, and Jason Newsted.They have labels from Warner Bros., Elektra, Vertigo, Megaforce, Sony (Japan). The band earned a growing fan base in the underground music community and critical acclaim with the 1986 release Master of Puppets. Which to all metallica fans is know as one of their heavy metal albums (the trash of them all). They have a total of 9 albums labeled by 2 Megaforce. 6 by Elektra and 2 by Warner Bros. The 9 albums are:

Metallica believe it or not are in the video making too. They have 8 Videos which were all made between 1989 and 2004.

Metallica has won a lot of awards, from the Hall of Fame to Best Metal Performance, Favorite Artist, Favorite Metal/Hard Rock Song, Billboard Rock and Roll Artist of the year, Catalouge Album of the Year, Best Metal Video, Best Recording Package, and Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Metallica is known as the big four of thrash metal, along with Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth. The band has sold more than 90 million records worldwide, inluding the 57 million in the US. The writers of The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll felt Metallica gave heavy metal a much needed charge. Jonathan Davis of Korn respects Metallica as his favorite band. He once said " I love that they've done things their own way and they've preserved over the years and they're still relevant to this day. I think they're one of the greatest bands ever." Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin said Metallica has been the biggest influence on the band stating " they really changed my life when I was 16 it was the first time I heard heavy music."

Metallica also now is having an upcoming game being developed by Neversoft and distributed by Activision. The game is going to be released in North America on the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 on March 29, 2009. It will have 49 songs, 28 being Metallica and the other 21 will be Metallica's personal favorites and Influences from over the years including those that appeared on their albums. on Guitar Hero their songs will include:
