"Running Man" Confirms "Mission Impossible: Fallout" Cast Will Appear in New Teaser Trailer
The cast of the upcoming action movie Mission Impossible: Fallout will guest star on the popular Korean variety show Running Man. The news was made known in a preview for this coming Sunday's episode on July 22nd which aired last Sunday on July 15th. In it, it showed that Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg will be making an appearance.
Prior to Running Man officially making it known about the Mission Impossible: Fallout cast making an appearance, there have been previous news reporting of said potential collaboration last week. Sources from both Mission Impossible: Fallout and Running Man stated they were in talks for the star-studded appearance.
At this moment, we have no news on what the game will be about. However, it is expected the theme for it will center on the upcoming movie. To be frank, if the game does mimic the Mission Impossible franchise, it will be as if Running Man were going back to its roots. Fans who've been watching since the very beginning know that in its earlier days, Running Man was more like a spy competition. Ergo, there might be some nostalgia among certain seasoned viewers with this upcoming episode.
More International Stars appearing on Korean Variety Shows!
Many Hallyu fans, I myself included, are anticipating the upcoming collaboration between Mission Impossible: Fallout and Running Man. But just the simple fact that Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg are appearing on a Korean variety show indicates how much impact Korean television has internationally. By now, we already know that K-pop is taking over, especially with BTS dominating the international scene. But now that westerners are appearing more on Korean television, it shows K-dramas and K-variety shows are just as important.
Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg on Running Man is just the latest in western stars appearing on Korean television. Back in 2016, Jack Black made an appearance on Infinite Challenge, a show he has passionately expressed that he'd want to be back on again. Later that year, Conan O'Brien made a special cameo on the K-drama One More Happy Ending.
The upcoming episode of Running Man featuring Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg will air on Sunday, July 22nd on the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS). According to Soompi, it will be Cruise's ninth time in South Korea, Pegg's second, and Cavill's first.
For North American viewers, all episodes of Running Man can be viewed for free on DramaFever with the latest two episode being exclusive to Premium Members. Viewers can also watch it on Viki without any premium memberships but only the 70 latest episodes.
