By now it is obvious that I am totally obsessed with People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. I have been a fan since the first one was announced and this year was no different. For 2010 People Magazine has chosen their Sexiest Man Alive and it is Ryan Reynolds.

Biography and Family:

Ryan Reynolds was bornOctober 23, 1976 in VancouverBritish ColumbiaCanada. Reynolds is the first Canadian to be picked the Sexiest Man Alive. Ryan Reynolds is married to actress Scarlett Johansson who just won GQ’s Babe of the Year. So it’s been a great year for this young Hollywood Couple.

Career:

Ryan Reynolds career started in Canadian Television in a program that would later be seen in the United States on the Nickelodeon network. Reynolds was on several television shows and well as made for television movies. Ryan is probably best known for his films Van Wilder, The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Blade Trinity.

Movies:

Van Wilder (2002)

Ryan Reynolds plays Van Wilder a young college student that is afraid to graduate. Van Wilder is the most popular kid on campus and figures out when he meets a beautiful woman that he is only staying in school because he is too scared to enter the “real world”.

Blade Trinity (2004)

Ryan Reynolds plays Hannibal King a Nightstalker. The Nightstalkers join forces with Blade (Wesley Snipes) to face their biggest enemy; Dracula.

Just Friends (2005)

Ryan Reynolds plays Chris Brander a total womanizer who has to come face-to-face with his high school crush when he returns home for vacation.

Waiting (2005)

Ryan Reynolds plays Monty a party animal and one of the workers at the restaurant Shenaniganz. Monty is in charge of training the new employee who is in stark contrast to his personality.

Smokin’ Aces (2006)

Ryan Reynolds plays Richard Messner one of two FBI agents chosen to watch over a magician that is on a mob boss’ hit list.

The Nines (2007)

The Nines is three short films. In The Prisoner Ryan Reynolds plays Gary is television star that is under house arrest where he begins to question why he was incarcerated. In Reality Television Ryan Reynolds plays Gavin the creator of a documentary. In Knowing Ryan Reynolds plays Gabriel a videogame designer who is having car troubles in the woods.

Chaos Theory (2008)

Ryan Reynolds plays Frank Allen a motivational speaker who believes in avoiding impulsive behavior and sticks to a very specific schedule. His lifestyle stifles any fun for his wife who leaves after she can no longer take it and thinks that he has cheated on her. After his wife leaves Allen decides to break all of his rules.

Definitely, Maybe (2008)

Ryan Reynolds plays Will Hayes a father who is in the midst of a bitter divorce. Hayes’ ten-year-old daughter (Abigail Breslin) wants to know about her fathers past relationship so that she can understand how her mom and dad came together.

The Proposal (2009)

Ryan Reynolds plays Andrew Paxton a young assistant who is forced into a marriage of convenience to keep his evil and demanding boss (Sandra Bullock) from being deported back to Canada.

Buried (2010)

Ryan Reynolds plays Paul Conroy a truck driver who is captured and held hostage by insurgent guerrillas. Conroy is buried alive in a box that is coffin-like with only a lighter and his cell phone to help him to get free.

Green Lantern (2011)

The Green Lantern is set to be released in 2011. Ryan Reynolds will play Hal Jordan aka The Green Lantern who is a test pilot that is granted a mythical green ring that gives him special powers.

Again there are a few other people I would have chosen before Ryan Reynolds. I would have chosen someone who has been on the scene a bit longer than Reynolds, not that he is a bad choice but there are others. I am thinking that the hype around Green Lantern might have helped him to attain his status and being married to Scarlett Johansson does not hurt the situation either. Now I have to wait another year to see who is chosen for 2011; hopefully People Magazine will not let me down!
