Man of The Year; Schoolboy Q Emerges on Top !!!!!

Updated on March 9, 2014

Gracing the Cover of Billboard Magazine Schoolboy Q from "Top Dawg Entertainment" has made his voice heard in the world of HIp-Hop, stating insightfully that he was next in line to hit it BIG; alongside the legendary Kendrick Lamar from "Black Hippy" who topped the charts with his major debut album "good kid,m.A.A.D city". Schoolboy Q quickly emerged, becoming the talk of the streets and started out 2014, as the Man of The Year after announcing the dropping of his latest album; entitled "Oxymoron". The Compilation created a hype so intense; it became one of the most anticipated albums of 2013. It dropped as #1. Q's four year old daughter sits on the cover of the album which features the single's "Collard Greens", " Yay Yay", "Man of The Year " and "Break the Bank"; which are only a few of the gangsta tracks from Q.The album goes deeper into the story of his past, prescription drugs and growing up on hoover street. The MC puts out his aggression saying 'F rap I been rich, .... and one day this rap aint gone pay, so now we bout to break the bank, money be on my mind' as he continues to tell his story about being the realest in the game; in fact Schoolboy mentioned that "Oxymoron" is mostly a continuation of his last combination: "Habits & Contradictions". Schoolboy Q knew that this was his time to show out and he did.

"Gangsta, Gangsta, Gangsta","Oxy","Studio", and "Hoover Street" were other clear standouts from the Album. The 27 year old Schoolboy Q collaborately worked with friend and well known artist A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, and even did a song with 50 cent (not featured on the album). He announced his three month tour in support of his major label debut, beginning March 1st and sets out to do 73 shows in total. His first stop was in Boston where ticket's sold-out. March 4th he dived on Stage at the "Best Buy Theatre" in NYC, where Vince Staples and the newest member of TDE, "Isaiah Rashad" warmed up the stage for the skillful Schoolboy.

Growing Up, Quincy Matthew Hanley, better known as SchoolBoy Q was raised in Los Angeles California, on 51st Street, where he joined a street gang at the age of 12; called the 52 Hoover Crips. There he became influenced by the street life and sold drugs, mostly Oxycontin. After being in jail for a couple of months at the age 21 he realized that this life wasn't what he wanted. He wrote his first verse at 16 but wasn't serious about rap until he was 21. He grew passionate about rapping and slowly perfected his craft. He got an opportunity to record his music with an independent recording studio, House of Pain. where he was signed in 2009 to "Top Dawg Entertainment" and worked with Ab-soul, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar forming the TDE Crew "Black Hippy". In 2011, Schoolboy got a recording contact with Interscope Records. After being Kendrick's hype man for a while, and watching him grow; Q became competitively motivated to be on Top.

TDE is showing in Hip-Hop that they are force to be reckoned with, with their solo albums as top albums of the year. I can assure you there is much more to come from "Top Dawg Entertainment".
