When her father Benigno returned in 1983, he was shot dead on the tarmac of Manila International Airport. This event served as a catalyst that hastened the downfall of the dictator Marcos. Her mother, Cory, led the world-renowned EDSA People Revolution of 1986 that completely toppled the Marcos regime.
In 1987, her mother was declared the winner of the snap election that was held the previous year, making her the first Filipino woman President of the Philippines.

In 1996, Kris gave birth to a baby boy named Joshua and eventually, in 1999 they parted ways.
In 2000, Kris got involved again with another married man, Alvin Patrimonio, a PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) basketball star.
After two scandalous love affairs, she lived together with another married man, Joey Marquez, another PBA basketball star in 2012. A year later, she went on national TV to announce her breakup with Joey, accusing him of infidelity. She also said Joey pointed a loaded gun at her in their quarrel. But the most explosive of all her revelation was that Joey infected her with a sexually transmitted disease(STD).
