Get to Know the Shadoe, Shadoe Stevens That Is

Updated on January 17, 2012

Shadoe Stevens is one of those guys with an unforgettable voice. I was first introduced to Shadoe Stevens when he was featured as "Fred Rated" in the Federated commercials back in the 80s. He was a guy with that sun-kissed surfer look with big 80s hair and a deep sexy voice.

Depending on what part of the world you're from, you may remember Shadoe as a radio disc jockey, host of Hollywood Squares, from the "Dave's World" television program, or the voice of America's Top 40 countdown, replacing Casey Kasem, or one of the many other things he did.

If you don't know Shadoe Stevens, this is your chance.

Nelle, I don't have my TV hooked up and haven't in about almost 2 years I guess. I listen to the radio on the way to and from work. That's it. So, I know what you mean.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Paradise. He was such a hunk in his day. Then to realize how talented he was in radio biz....then went on to act, now write children's books....

Oh, KCC, another truly entertaining hub. I really don't remember this guy very well, but he's good.

KCC I doubt that I'm quite a bit younger, I'm just hopelessly behind the times. I go for days without turning on the television, rarely listen to the radio. So there's huge gaps in my pop culture knowledge.

I thought I knew quite a bit about him until I started doing the research and found it he had pioneered so much more than I realized. I was impressed myself. Thanks for stopping by Teendad!

I'd heard of this guy, but I had no idea who he was or that he had such an interesting history. Great hub idea.

TamCor, you know why that is, right? Because we're close to the same age. :) Shadoe sure has changed in appearance though, but then it hit me that he's going to turn 62 next month! Yikes! Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Nelle! guess you're quite a bit younger then. "Dave's World" is based on Dave Barry the columnist. It was a great show with Harry Anderson playing Dave. YouTube has lots of Shadoe stuff. It was hard to pick one.

So I've lived under a rock and I've never heard of this guy. I'll read all of your hubs and you'll get me current. Loved the You Tube video. (I've never seen Dave's World either.)

Omigosh, Shadoe Stevens--I'll bet you figured that I'd remember him, lol...

I had no idea he was still around and active, but I remember him well from the TV shows, and radio! He has the perfect "announcer" voice, doesn't he?

Thanks again, KCC, for the trip down memory lane! :)
