Silence is Noisy
Noise in the Silence
Have you ever been alone in complete silence and feel like your head will explode from the noise? I feel this way so often that I normally have to keep the television or radio on at all times. I can't stand the noise in silence.
The worst time is nighttime. I can't sleep in the first place. I have been an insomniac most of my life. When everybody else goes to bed, I feel like a caged animal. I lay down, I get up. I feel sleepy, I lay down. I lay down, I'm awake...it's a never ending cycle. In fact, as I am writing this, it is approaching 2:00 a.m.
Now, you may be thinking that I sleep late in the mornings, but that is not true. I get up every morning around 6:45 a.m. I get my son out of bed, feed him breakfast and take him to school. Once I'm up, I'm up. I generally don't sit down for very long periods of time. I am constantly up doing something around the house; laundry, cleaning, picking up, and running errands. Before I know it, it's time to pick my son up from school. Then it's home, dinner, clean up and then begin a long night of trying to sleep again.
Whoever coined the phrase, "silence is golden", must have been a sound sleeper or a recluse.
