Sinbad, A Master of Comedy
An Evening of Music and Pure Laughter

An Evening of Laughter, Music and Fun Presented by Now That's Entertainment & Fyne Artz Recordz
Sinbad, a stand-up comedian that masterfully captivates his audience, with hilarious jokes about #parenting, marriage and life in general. Born by the name of David Adkins, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, whose professional name is #Sinbad. He is known for keeping his act clean without the use of derogatory statements or foul language. During my interview with Sinbad, whimsical, down to earth answers were given concerning his illustrious career.
Angelladywriter: What inspired you to become a comedian?
Sinbad: I wanted to play basketball because I admired people like Bill Russell. When that did not work out, I knew that I wanted to do something that was different. I realized that I was good at doing clean comedy. Whether a #comedian is clean or dirty, it does not matter. Some cats are just not funny. I admired comedians like Richard Pryor because he had something to say. I definitely try to make sure that I have something worth saying.
Angelladywriter: When you are not on stage performing, what do you enjoy doing?
Sinbad: I have a band called Memphis Red and Stank Nasty. This band is so funky they stank. I use local band members along with my son who plays keyboards and my daughter plays piano and the guitar. I did not bring my guitar tonight so, I won't be able to perform. I enjoy playing music and doing comedy.
While I was backstage interviewing Sinbad, friends of our family named Linda Harrison and her husband Mark, met this down to earth charismatic entertainer. Linda, discovered that Sinbad was from her hometown area. They went to school with some of the same people. The stigma of growing up in and around Detriot and other cities in Michigan, caused Sinbad and Linda to reminisce about the good old days. These discussions brought a burst of laughter to everyone who were observers as Sinbad, immitated some of these individuals from the past. The sharpness of his mental capacity, to create laughter off the cuff with strangers was fascinating. It truly takes a master to maintain professional interviews and entertain all at the same time.
Sinbad's astute ability to work an audience is mind-blowing. During his stand-up, he started out asking, "What do women want from their husbands?" Various women responded as he joked about how the men were scared of their wives. It was obvious to him which men in the audience were married just by the way they sat in their chairs. One woman asked, "Why do men leave the toilet seats up?" Sinbad explained to the women in the audience that it was not just all about them. "How old are you that you are still falling in the toilet. Even cats are taught how to pee in the toilet. When you go, you should lift the toilet seat up because the man might have to go." Roars of laughter filled the theater because, it caused women to consider just for a moment that "it is not always just about us." Sinbad's creative ability to attentively look at the things his wife does or women in general, bedazzled the entire audience with genuine laughter. His observation of everyday life, self deprecation, current events, race relations and aging, presented us with shimmers of reality.
This outstanding comedian is a commodity of talent. Sinbad has appeared as an actor in numerous major roles such as #A Diifferent World, The Cosby Show, Houseguest and Necessary Roughness. He has won such awards as Kids' Choice Awards, Image Award and a nomination for Favorite Television Actor. He has hosted his own televison show, HBO specials and did the voice for the animal character Riley, in Homeward Bound II. Sinbad, has been a professional in the entertainment industry since 1978 and he continues to appeal to audiences all over the world. Sinbad is a master of comedy.

His current CD, consist of such hits as Anytime, Missing U, Just Friends, Journey and Heal Our Land. Haywood also features the hit by Luther Vandross entitled, Creepin. This world renown tune has Curtis on saxphone with sultry background singers which gives this song its own creative flare. He also intertwines the voices of children with his soulful sax, on one of my favorite tunes entitled, Heal Our Land. The CD is entitled, Curtis Haywood, a comtemporary jazz artist that is not just extremely talented but spiritually inspired. Within the CD cover he states, "In order to give or secure a blessing your mind, heart and spirit must remain open." The tunes Haywood plays, resonate with faith, hope and genuine joy for music.
