Song of the Day - 10-13 Aug. 2013

Updated on August 13, 2013

Grouplove - "Ways To Go"

Grouplove might be most famous for their Indie Rock hit "Tongue Tied" from their album Never Trust A Happy Song. It was used in an Apple iPod Touch commercial a few years back, and shot the group into stardom, along with the radio hit "Colours." Their second album, Spreading Rumours, marks a whole new chapter in Grouplove's career, with "Ways To Go" as the stand-out single. I have to say, these guys have done it again, and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album, due out in mid-September.

Where To Get The Single

Royal Teeth - "Wild"

This Indie Dance Pop group released their debut album today, entitled Glow. And while they may be a very young group of musicians, their talents are nothing short of amazing. "Wild" stands out as the new single, and the music is all that an Indie band should be playing. Great pop hooks and a mix of male and female vocals make this single, as well as the rest of the album, one of my new favorites. I hope to catch these guys on their concert tour this summer, because I feel they would perform very well live. The chemistry between the band members just gives me a great vibe.

Where To Get The Single

The Hunts - "Make This Leap"

The Hunts didn't have a hard time coming up with a name for their 7-piece band. Since they all share the same last name, they chose to be represented as such. That's right: this Indie Folk band is made up of all brothers and sisters from Virginia, and their debut single makes them sound like veterans in the Folk scene. "Make This Leap" showcases the family's skills in acoustic instrumentation, as well as their talents in harmonizing and vocal layering. Each member is relatively young, so we can expect to hear much more from this talented musical family in the future!

Where To Get The Single

Lana Del Rey - "Blue Jeans"

Born To Die may have been released last year, but Lana Del Rey's debut album still resonates in my music collection to this day. "Blue Jeans" is definitely a stand out tune for me, one that continues to play on repeat on my iTunes and iPod. This song is just so haunting and very sexy to me; I just can't get enough of it. Paired with the video that was released with the single, it puts me in a very good mood, and I can't get over her voice. Even though Lana may have stained her live performing career with her infamous appearance on Saturday Night Live, her album makes up for it a million times over.
