Song of the Day - 31 July 2013

Elvis Costello & The Roots - "Walk Us Uptown"

Let's feature something a bit different today: I am a huge fan of Elvis Costello and most anything he touches, so naturally, when I saw he collaborated with The Roots, I had to hear the end product. The stand-out track from their new album (Wise Up Ghost) definitely has a retro feel, but one much different than the usual New Wave hits I'm used to hearing from Mr. Costello. The Roots add a hint of the Hip Hop genre their known for, and the song plays almost like the opening credits for a film made in the 70s. The horns and keyboards compliment the vocals to give the song a very groovy feel. It is well worth a listen.
