Songs with the word BLACK in the title (with youtube links)
To jog my brain a little, I like to come up with lists, and music is as good a topic as any. Mainly because music touches everyone, and thus, it's easy to discuss. i like to play around with mixes, and putting things into groups, like song titles. So, if you'll allow me to indulge, here is my list of songs with the color BLACK in the title.
"Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath. One of the scariest songs ever released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t24PsZxohY
"Black Night" by Deep Purple. One of their best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qb0KdwCvSs
"The Lady Wore Black" by Queensryche http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lmePw4szF0
"Black is Black" by Los Bravos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGeFf_rIAVQ
"Back in Black" by AC/DC. There's also a version done by the Canadian folk-rock band the Lost Dakotas. I can actually understand the lyrics in that version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAgnJDJN4VA
"Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones. The theme music for the 1987-1990 tv series "Tour of Duty", which followed a platoon during the Vietnam War. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6d8eKvegLI
"Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" by the Hollies. I love this song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5Fq2SCxNP4
"Black Mountain Side" by Led Zeppelin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0OYZm4RhFE
"Black or White" by Michael Jackson
"Black and White" by Three Dog Night. We had ecology class in the fourth grade (this was 1973, when the EPA was spreading its wings), and we sang songs like this in class. This and Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7noGoJ0_Cuw
"Black Coffee" by Humble Pie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFfD15_HbBY
"Black Diamond" by KISS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeUosbClag8
"Black Cat" by Janet Jackson. The merger of heavy metal and dance music was known as "new jack swing". This was the first example of it I can remember, and yes, it rocks, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOfTlJ5aoZk
"Black Rain" by Soundgarden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE1k6Dq86R8
"Black Betty" by Ram Jam, Spiderbait, and Leadbelly. Here's the Ram Jam version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x21uw543HVk
"Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. With one of the creepiest music videos ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mbBbFH9fAg
Late addition, "Black Velvet" by both Allanah Myles and Robin Lee. The two versions were on the charts at the same time, Myles' version on the pop charts, and Lee's on the country charts. Ms. Lee was very unimaginative, as her second country single was a rip-off of Bonnie Raitt's "Love Letter". Here's Allanah's version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkXNEmtf9tk
