Stan Lee is responsible for helping create some of the most famous superheroes in the Marvel Universe. However, as a young kid Stan didn’t want to be a comic book writer. According to the documentary With Great Powers: The Stan Lee Story, he wanted to be an actor like Errol Flynn. It’s hard to imagine what Marvel Comics or even the superhero genre would look like without the creative and dynamic personality of Stan Lee. He was not only instrumental in changing comic book culture, but has become the face of the industry. People may know the names of Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Bob Kane, Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Jim Lee or Todd McFarlane, but it is Stan who has embraced the spotlight.

Stan may never have become a professional actor, but through his comic book fame he has been able fulfill part of his childhood dreams. He has performed in video games, television shows, cartoons and movies. It has become a game of casting Stan in Marvel superhero movies and letting fans try to spot him. Below are the Marvel movies Stan has appeared in and screenshots of his scenes.

His character doesn’t believe in anything as silly as superheroes and after saying, "Superheroes in New York? Give me a break!" gets back to his chess game.

When Stan Lee went on record as saying he would not appear in the movie because "I didn't write Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm not even sure who they all are. I can't wait to see the movie.”, fans were disappointed. However, Stan is the official co-creator of Groot. (He created the character with Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers.) James Gunn now had a valid reason to find a spot for him in the Guardians movie. Stan was originally going to be in one of the Collector’s trophy cases and flip Groot off. Disney executives quickly stepped in and had it changed to Stan Lee being an alien Casanova. (I am sure Stan was okay with this.) Why not you make them you should be able to be in every one. He has fun I'm sure and will get to continue doing this which is a treat for Marvel fans.

Glad you enjoyed it. It seems like we are of similar minds with the movie preference and cameos.

I will be updating this hub as Lee makes more cameos. Because of the time code piece, I have to wait until they are released on DVD or Bluray. Iron Man 3 will be up soon.

It's funny that Amazing Spider-Man is my least favorite Spider-Man movie, but has my favorite Stan Lee Cameo, the second place being all the rest. Good job collecting them, I'll have to pass this on to friends.

Thank You. I am glad you enjoyed the article.

I have come across some hubs on Kirby and Ditko if you are interested in other Hubs on comic creators, You can probably search for them on Hubpages and easily find them, because you are right there is not a lot out there on the creators of these wonderful characters.

Very interesting and original analysis. I've seen hundreds of hubs on the superheroes, but nothing about their creator. Stan Lee was a genius indeed and colored the lives of millions of children like me back in the 70s. I guess he continues to do so today with the onslaught of all of these Marvel Movies.

awesome! I'm a huge fan of the Marvel movies, especially the XMen franchise :) and I always like to play "where's stan" when we watch a new one. Very cool and I love that you put the time of the scene on there.

Thank You. As I was putting it together I realized I had most of these movies on DVD/Blu Ray. I made sure to do a lot of hands on research. :) I think Amazing Spider-Man was my favorite Lee cameo as well. It is an old joke, but it works beautifully.

Wow excellent job putting this together Geekdom, screenshots, time code, descriptions, love it.

My favourite Lee cameo... probably The Amazing Spider-Man and his line in Thor was funny too.

      Voted Up, Useful and Awesome!
