The Unusual Breakup

Updated on October 26, 2015

Relationships are meant to last for all of eternity, however sometimes that's not always possible in this world. It's a constantly changing world, and the people who live in this world change as well. When two people form a relationship, they both think and feel that it will last forever. However people change, and if they both don't adjust to those changes then the relationship is strained, and stretched to a limit where it eventually may falter.

When a relationship does falter, an ensuring breakup will soon sometimes follow. Where I work I've seen a lot of marriages unfortunately fail. It may be caused by long working hours, somebody Else's interference, or something else that has changed in the relationship for the each of the two people. Regardless of what the cause may have been, it's really a shame seeing any two people break up.

Most people have seen or maybe even personally experienced these types of breakups. These are just normal everyday people experiencing problems that you never hear about. When famous people or celebrities have breakups, it's all over the television news and newspapers. The tabloid magazines have a field day with a story like this.

There have been some very famous breakups in the past. One of the most famous breakups was that of Prince Charles and Lady Diana. There was Madonna and Shawn Penn, Sony and Cher, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, and most recently Tom Cruse and Katie Holmes. This list goes on and on, and for some reason these storys always catches the public's attention.

This hub is however about a very unusual breakup. I thought that I had heard of just about every kind of breakup that was possible in life, but this morning on the radio I heard about a break up that was completely off the wall.

It seems that the candy makers Mike and Ike have had some sort of a disagreement, and they are in the midst of a very nasty breakup. They are both going as far as airing all of their dirty laundry out there for everyone to see and hear in candy land. It's gotten so bad that both of them have even gone so far as to childishly scribble and mark the other one's name from off of their candy box.

It's really hard to imagine that such a long standing relationship and partnership, like the one that Mike and Ike had, could be in jeopardy. This development certainly has captured the interest of everyone. Both Mike and Ike are oblong fruit-flavored chewy candies that have been together since 1940, and are manufactured by the company Just Born, Inc., of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which was founded in 1923. Mike and Ike have been a favorite candy treat together, and for years they have gotten along just fine. I don't know what has happened between these two, but hopefully they will make up someday before it's too late. This may end up being one of the biggest breakups ever. We will all just have to stay tuned in, and see what becomes of all of this. I told you all in the title that this story was about an unusual breakup!

Who's name do you think should be scribbled out?

I think they're acting childish, but the story is quite funny. Scribbling off each others names will not make their relationship any better. I actually saw a box of these in the store, I thought it was some sort of advertising scheme though, I did not know it was actually a fight between the partners.

LOL, great article. I feel some people outgrow each other and no matter how much they try to work it out, it'll never be the same. However, that's not always bad, sometimes being friends is just as good and healthy for both parties.

I was never a fan of the candy but I still hate to hear of break ups (romantic and business relationships) when people have been together for years. This is too bad…

Remember the song, My heart will go on. Well, the candy will go on. It will still be Mike and Ike. Maybe they will sell the company.

Hahaha! :) I've always loved the name Ike so I'd have to say that Mike has to go. Sorry Mike. You're probably a great guys and you're taking all the blame but I gotta go with my gut, dude.

Were they gay or just very good friends? (I don't have a problem with 'em either way.)

Sometimes relationships break up because of metaphysical causes. A karmic debt has been paid by one to the other, and the relationship is fulfilled and no longer needed. It sounds like Mike and Ike are establishing bad karma, however.

I love to read your stories. I think of break ups as being a sad and angry time for the people involved. I hope they can come to some kind of understanding so they can work together. I will hope for the best.
