Hallyu fans are growing more in anticipation as we get closer to KCON 2018 NY. It is the biggest event for "All Things Hallyu" on the Eastern coast of North America.

Though it touches on many aspects that make Korea phenomenal to the rest of the world, it is safe to say KCON 2018 NY concentrates primarily on K-pop. Its performance lineup already includes Wanna One, EXID, Heize, NCT 127, and Stray Kids. Now two more musical acts join it: Super Junior and Fromis 9.

Who are Super Junior and Fromis 9?

We will definitely start with the more popular K-pop act out of the two, Super Junior. Also known as SJ and SuJu, the K-pop boy band is probably the first boy band out of SM Entertainment to truly make an impact outside of South Korea through Hallyu. At its peak, it consisted of 13 members: Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Hangeng, and Kibum.

Super Junior has released nine studio albums, six live albums, three video albums, seven soundtrack albums, and 15 compilation albums over the course of their 13-year-long career. They made the biggest impact with the song "Sorry Sorry," which is considered one of the most influential songs in furthering Hallyu. Since then, they became the best-selling K-pop artist for four years in a row and earned numerous music awards.

Presently, the members of Super Junior are concentrating more on their solo careers. Some will continue in musics while others are making the jump to either hosting or acting. Nevertheless, Super Junior are still producing content for K-pop fans especially those who are E.L.F. (Ever Lasting Friends), their official fan club. Just last month, they released their latest single "Lo Siento."

Fromis 9, which is an initialism for "From Idol School" is a nine-member girl group formed through Mnet's reality variety show Idol School back in 2017. They consist of Lee Sae-rom, Song Ha-young, Jang Gyu-ri, Park Ji-won, Roh Ji-sun, Lee Seo-yeon, Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-gyung, and Baek Ji-heon.

Prior to their debut, Fromis 9 released a new song titled "Glass Shoes" on Mnet Asian Music Awards in Japan. They officially made their debut back in January 24 with their first extended play (EP) or mini-album To Heart featuring a title track song of the same name.

The biggest celebration of "All Things Hallyu" in North America

KCON USA is the largest North American convention dedicated to "All Things Hallyu." It originally launched back in 2012 with just around 10,000 fans attending. Since then, it has grown exponentially with almost 200,000 fans attending. As a matter of fact, it has grow so popular that it is now divided into two conventions. The first one takes place in New York City while the second one takes place in its original venue of Los Angeles.

KCON 2018 NY will take place in the Prudential Center on Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, 2018. There will be more musical acts leading up to the event.
