Karl is a longtime freelancer who's passionate about music, art, and writing.

XENNON’s latest single Reflections is the second single that will eventually be on the Dark of a Distant World album telling the story of a young boy’s adventures in the land of Eternicron. This is a shining, uplifting song full of bright synths and a positive message that resonates strongly with me right now.

The first comment I’d like to make is that XENNON’s expressive voice is a good match for the feeling of glow and positive energy in the song. It soars above the shimmering synths and the throbbing beat as it delivers a hopeful message that touches me quite strongly.

I was drawn to the way Reflections fairly shines with high synth sounds like sunlight through an open window and the strong underpinning of deep drum throb and bass that swells and moves underneath all that lightness. The musical elements of this track all combine to support the vocals nicely.

I also want to comment on the fact that this song’s production allows the main vocal melody and the words themselves to sit front and centre while the other parts of the music are there to showcase the words and XENNON’s expressive singing, instead of competing with them.

I enjoy the uplifting message that XENNON delivers with the lyrics of this song. In this current atmosphere of demoralizing events in the world, this track emphasizes hope and moving forward. I like the lines, “We’ll never forget the moments that made us smile and cry. They form and shape to an extent. But never will define, the future we make, those choices are yours and mine.”

I like the how XENNON talks about the way in which our experiences shape our growth as he sings, “Would I have been as strong as this? Would I have gotten through impossible times without some misfortune?”

The feeling of uplift deepens in the lines, “Wake up to a brighter day, sit up to an open window, feel the breeze run across my face. Reflection deepens the glow. ” As the song adds, “I’ll use it in a positive way and I will get up and go.”

Ultimately XENNON asks, “My family is by my side, my friends are all around, what else in this life is needed when all is found?”

The way Reflections combines all of its musical and lyrical elements to create a message of hope and growth is something that I found deeply enjoyable. There’s quite enough doom and gloom right now, so this song was a shaft of sunlight and a breath of fresh breeze for me.
