~t.g. Sheppard & Passion of the Night Cw Song~
T.G Sheppard
About the time I wrote this one, country music was in a romantic state of mind. T.G. Sheppard was one of the big stars leading the C/W charts with lush melodies that were a bit different. TG was one of Elvis Presley’s best friends and hung out with the King in Graceland in 1978-1982. Elvis helped launch his career with the purchase of a tour bus.
The very popular songs he recorded include the "Last Cheater's Waltz" (1979); "I'll Be Coming Back for More" and "Do You Wanna Go to Heaven" (1980); "Party Time" "I Loved 'Em Every One" and "Party Time" (1981); "Finally" "Only One You," and "War is Hell (On the Homefront Too)" (1982).”I Loved 'Em Everyone" is particularly clever in the offbeat rhythm in the opening strains and was a particular favorite of mine. It crossed over into the pop single charts and may very well be his biggest hit. If you are not familiar with it, check it out as it is a catchy tune.
I loved the formula and wrote two tunes that followed this style of writing and penned “Passion of the Night” and “Tangled in Love.” I was submitting songs to theNashville studios and received a hot sheet of sessions from a gentleman who circulated around the studios. I was so busy submitting songs that I decided to make up a songwriter album and that would speed up the process of submitting songs for the Nashville sessions. By the time I finished the album, the tipster went out of business and I had nowhere to send the tunes. Oh well.
Opportunities come and go and the album did sell locally at my performances. I have around thirty vinyl copies left and will have this available on CD and DVD by the time it appears in this HUB.

Passion of the Night
Lately I’ve been trying to decide
How to tell you how I feel inside.
Searching for words for a long, long time
Cause lately you’ve been on my mind—
Wasn’t feeling right—wasn’t feeling right.
I’ve tried getting you out of my heart
Trouble is I didn’t know where to start.
I no longer want to be just a friend
Let’s be lover’s from now to the end—
Discover the PASSION OF THE NIGHT.
CHORUS
Let’s find the passion that will make us lovers.
Let it happen and try to discover
The good time we’ve missed
And tried so hard to resist.
Let’s find the passion waiting in the dark.
Let’s make it happen; hear the beating of my heart.
Let’s find the passion that will make everything right.
Let’s find the passion
THE PASSION OF THE NIGHT!
2. You’re the woman I’ve been dreaming of
Let’s be a man and a woman in love.
I’ve had these feelings for so long.
Couldn’t see myself going on
Without you—living without you.
I’ve got feelings I can’t resist—
Want to make up for the time we’ve missed.
I’m searching for love and hoping to find
This is the night I’m going to make you mine
And do what lover’s do
Chorus/Refrain
I’m searching Oh oh oh.
I’m searching Oh oh oh.
I’m searching for love and hoping to find
Now is the moment I’m going to make you mine!
Chorus and End.
Tangled in Love
