It is that time of year again (no not the time when Santa is checking his naughty and nice list). The time of year when Barbara Walters makes her list of the 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year.

For 2009 they are…

LADY GAGA was born March 28, 1986 in New York, New York and is a singer. Lady Gaga is best known as a singer with such songs as Poker Face and Just Dance and her outrageous fashion statements. Lady Gaga has stirred controversy regarding her sexuality and some have questioned her gender as well.

JENNY SANFORD was born in 1962 and is best known as the wife of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. Jenny Sanford was an investment banker whose husband created controversy when disappeared to be with his mistress in Argentina. Jenny Sanford has been a pillar of strength through out the situation.

TYLER PERRY was born September 14, 1969 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Perry is best known for his character Madea as well as his plays and movies that include the Madea character. Tyler Perry is an actor, producer and director of plays, movies and television shows.

KATE GOSSELIN was born March 28, 1975 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is a reality show star on Jon & Kate plus 8 which is a show about her family which includes sextuplets and a set of twins. The world got to know Kate Gosselin through her reality show as viewers watch the up and downs of her life.

GLENN BECK was born February 10, 1964 in Everett, Washington and is a radio, television host and author. Glenn Beck is best known as a conservative shock jock that makes his political stance well known. Beck’s radio show has a huge following and brings controversy with his political opinions.

ADAM LAMBERT was born January 29, 1982 in Indianapolis, Indiana and is a singer who was the runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol. Adam Lambert caused a bit of a stir when pictures surfaced of him kissing another man, which led to Lambert admitting that he was gay.

BRETT FAVRE was born October 10, 1969 in Gulfport, Mississippi and is a National Football League Quarterback. Brett Favre spent 15 years with the Green Bay Packers when he retired. Shortly after his retirement he came out of retirement to play for the New York Jets and is currently with the Minnesota Vikings.

SARAH PALIN was born February 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho and is a politician who was Governor of Alaska. Sarah Palin was the first female governor of Alaska and is best known as the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States in 2008. It is highly speculated that Sarah Palin will run for presidential nomination in 2012.

MICHAEL JACKSON’S CHILDREN

Prince Michael Jackson was born February 13, 1997 in Beverly Hills, California

Paris Jackson was born April 3, 1998 in Los Angeles, California

Prince Michael Jackson II was born February 21, 2002 in San Diego, California

Jackson’s children have been shrouded in a cloak of secrecy for most of their lives. Even their biological parents are unknown. Jackson protected his children from the public by keeping them out of the public limelight and going as far as making them wear masks when they went out in public. It has only been since their father’s death that we have been able to see the children unmasked.

And the most fascinating person of 2009 is…

MICHELLE OBAMA was bornJanuary 17, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois and is best known as the First Lady of the United States and the first African-American with that title.Michelle Obama is a lawyer, wife of President Barack Obama and mother of two children.

An interesting list. I love Lady Gaga; one of the best things that happened in 2009. Would have liked to have seen Sarah Palin left out :)

      Enjoyed the read!

      All the best, Camlo

emievil - Thanks for your comments. We will have to see if she is chosen next year. Unfortunately she was not truly thrust into the limelight until December and that is most likely why she didn't make the cut!

Interesting people Triplet Mom. I agree with Cris A, Mrs. (soon-to-be ex?) Woods definitely makes the cut. :)

Lady Gaga's "poker face" was the best single of 2009.

Hope you agree. Great post, thanks for sharing!

pmccray - Thank you so much for your comments! I love the work Tyler Perry does. I can watch a Tyler Perry movie over and over again and love the messages within the movie.

Nemingha - I am tired of Kate Gosselin as well. Something about her rubs me the wrong way.

Janetta - Lady Gaga is a trip. Watching her on the show just confused me. She is quite a spectacle if you ask me. lol.

2Pats - Some of these people in my opinion are not worth mentioning. There are a few other people I think I would have put on the list.

Interesting list. Some of these people scarcely make the news here in England. Others like Lady Gaga are mentioned almost daily.

For whatever reason, Lady GaGa fascinates me. I honestly don't know what it is lol so I can see why she made the list :) Kate Gosselin...umm, not so much lol

She's a brave lady for attempting to make such a list. I don't even live in America but I am sick of hearing about some of these people, especially Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin.

Nice hub...some on the list are a major yawn and old news. My abosoulte favs are Favre, Perry and Ms. Obama.

Mr. Perry - is a wonderful rags to riches story that is simply amazing. Regarding his recent bout of critic attacks you must consider the source. Perry's movies are God filled vehicles, full of old Mother wit and takes on current social and personal issues that Blacks suffer today. Why is it impossible for Blacks to have a happy ending? His most outspoken critic is Spike Lee, who feels that Perry is a sell out. Lee is a Woody Allen wannabe whose movie pieces do more to ingrain sterotypes than anything Perry has produced. I buy movies, plays and music written by the talented Mr. Perry site unseen can't say the same for Lee. On the plus side Tyler has put a lot of talented Black actors to work who later go on to other bigger things. His newest release of Precious has Oscar rumors and perhaps an Academy nod for Monique'. What has Spike done lately, beside sell shoes for Nike?

Brett Favre - this guy shows that age is nothing but a number his longevity in the game of football and dead on accuracy shows he is truly the best quarterback of all time.

Michelle Obama - wow..I'm awe struck every time I see her. Beside my Son and Mother she is my hero.

Thanks for hub and have a great day. By the by your triplets are adorable!
