The Super Stars Of Hindi Cinema

Updated on January 3, 2014

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan

The original Angry Young man of Hindi Cinema.

From Zanjeer( Chains), this man redefined Hindi Cinema . With his brooding looks and a deep Baritone, he carried the masses. Whether it was Laawaris, Kaala Patthar,Trishul, Deewar,Amar Akabar Anthony and many more, his movies reflected the anger against the establishment. He was the avenger, the common man getting his pound of flesh from society. His dialogue in Deewar "mere pass gaadi hai, bungla hai, paisa hai",( I have cars, a bunglow and lots of money) was the high point of the film.

Not only was he adept at bashing up evil doers, but also his comic timing in comedy scenes was something to be watched..In older movies we had a comedian playing the role and his was a parallel track in the movie. Now there was this hero who was also a comedian and a good one at that.

At the present he is doing fewer movies due to age, even then they have turned out to be big Hits. Examples being Paa, Cheeni Kum and so on.He has aged gracefully and plays host on a TV Quiz show.

Shahrukh Khan, the King of Romance

Sharukh Khan

Often referred to as The Badshah of Bollywood, this man has had an amazing career. Coming as he does from a non filmy background, his climb to fame began with a TV serial, Fauji. His acting in the serial was so good that Film producers and viewers took an instant liking to him and from there on there was no stopping him.

Early on in his career Shahrukh was not afraid of playing negative roles and Baazigar was big hit. Then came Darr, with Shahrukh again playing a negative role. With these two blockbusters under his belt, he changed tracks and became a romantic hero. He has given memorable performances in,Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, My Name Is Khan,Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, and others. Although many still say that he hams his way through, the audiences are happy.

Along with his friend and director Karan Johar, he has given one hit after another.Sharukh's biggest hit to date was the 2013 movie, Chennai Express, which created history in terms of money earned for any Hindi film released till that date.

Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey

Salman Khan

Son of Salim Khan the script writer of the epic Sholay, Salman is the other Khan in the Bollywood scene.

Starting of as a lover boy in Maine Pyar Kiya and going on in the same genre, he produced hits in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and others. But his big change of scene came in Wanted, a Prabhudeva directed film which was a huge runaway success. Then his Dabang 1 and 2, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger established him in the SuperLeague. He redefined success and started The Hundred Crore Club.

Stated to be very Humble and caring of heart, Salman finds it difficult to stay away from controversies. Whether its love affairs or brushes with the law, he finds himself in one spat after another. But his movies have the producers laughing all the way to the bank.

Aamir Khan

The last of the Khans who rule Bollywood today is Aamir Khan. His debut film was Quayamat Se Quayamat Tak, a light hearted romantic film. He went on to make Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Raja Hindustani, Lagaan, Sarfarosh, Dil Chahata Hai, Taare Zameen Par and so on.

Known as an actor who wants perfection in every shot, he will not settle for anything less than perfect according to him. Hence he does not have as many release as his counterparts. Moreover he does not accept any script that is not complete and to his liking. His acting also is apt to the role he portrays in the film. Even though he does mainstream cinema, his films are not run of the mill. There is something unique in almost all his films.

Known to be a very private person, he does not attend award functions and is very rarele seen in Film parties. Married to Kiran Rao herself a talented lady who directed Dhobi Ghat, Aamir has two children from his previous marriage to Reena.
