He was the avenger, the common man getting his pound of flesh from society.His dialogue in Deewar "mere pass gaadi hai, bungla hai, paisa hai",( I have cars, a bunglow and lots of money) was the high point of the film.

Not only was he adept at bashing up evil doers, but also his comic timing in comedy scenes was something to be watched..In older movies we had a comedian playing the role and his was a parallel track in the movie. Now there was this hero who was also a comedian and a good one at that.
