The Boys Review *Spoilers*
Hughie's character arc
The story kicks off with Hughie going down a path of vengence against A-train. As the show progresses you notice that Hughie's character starts to change under the influence of Billy Butcher. This change becomes evident when Hughie blows up translucent. This adds lots of development to Hughie's character and definitely makes him one of the best characters on the show.
Superhero worshipping
The way that superheroes are so admired and deified is almost similar to how people admire superhero movies in real life. Eventually it becomes scary when you realize what superheroes do behind the scenes and that they are more like supervillans than superheroes.
Starlight
Out of all the superheroes so far, starlight seems like the one who is closest to being an actual superhero. She has a good heart and she had the desire to save people while putting herself at risk. Her character feels like the complete opposite of homelander.
Billy Butcher and the boys
Billy is definitely the coolest character in the show. He usually always has a clear mind unless homelander is involved the situation. His accent is honestly one of the best things on the show. The rest of the boys each have their own stories and have compelling characters.
The Plot
The plot is very well written. It does a good job of keeping the viewer hooked on the story. This is done very well on the season finale which probably had many people including myself pulling out their hair wondering what was going to happen next.
Overall
- The plot is a solid 9.5/10
- The characters are 10/10
- The dialogue is its only shortcoming at 8/10 which is still pretty good compared to some other shows
- Overall I would give The Boys a 9/10
