Mike Nichols: The Oscar Wining Director of The Graduate Dies at 83

Mike Nichols, who was popularly known for wining the Oscar for directing movie,'The Graduate' in Hollywood, dies at the age of 83 due to a cardiac arrest.

Mike Nichols' Journey in Hollywood

Mike started his film career in 1966 when his first firm 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' came out, after which the next year in 1967, his Oscar wining movie 'The Graduate' came out. Mike Nichols worked in various other movies later like Working Girl, Catch-22. Closer and Postcards from the Edge.

Nichols' last film in Hollywood was Charlie Wilson's War in the year 2007, where popular Hollywood actors like Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks starred.

Mike Nichols, was from a German decent, born in Germany itself, and then his parents moved to the United States when he was a kid. Mike was married to Diane Sawyer, who is a News presenter at ABC. It was confirmed from the president of ABC that the reason for Nichols' death was from a cardiac arrest.

Mike Nichols' Other Works

Not only did Mike Nichols work for the film industry but he also made it to the theatre and television. Nichols was actually one of those few to win the so called 'EGOT' which means he has won an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Oscar award and a Tony award.

Just two years ago, Nichols won his 8th Tony, for his work about a Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman. Mike was currently working for a television production which is an adaption of Master Class, which is a play by Terrence McNally, about an opera singer. This project which Mike Nichols was busy working on was for HBO, where he would adapt, Master Class, which is a Tony award winning play being adapted to a television film.

The family of Mike, his wife, his three children and four grandchildren officially made this news to his fans about his passing away.
