The Magic World of Mushrooms

Updated on July 8, 2011
Source

I have always been fascinated by mushrooms. As a child, I remember my mother forbidding me to touch them because she said they were poisonous and, indeed, some of them are. But they always caught my eye and piqued my interest and imagination, as they strike me as Nature's magical, tiny shelters, somehow. In the woodlands of Maryland and on the farm in Pennsylvania, I have encountered a few that I photographed and would like to share. I hope you enjoy!

Wow! so many of them. I do love them too; everytime I look at them I expect to see an elf or fairy around. Great shots; I wonder if you can eat any of them? Just love mushrooms. Well done!

Thanks, Simon! I finally figured out how to turn the flash off, and found the digital macro on this camera, and then Jamie illustrated how to do it correctly...that has really helped with the quality of macro shots. Whenever I am layed out on the ground or twisting into contortions to get unique views, I always visualize you there...it has been a great diversion amidst all this drama that has swirled around me for so long. I am grateful to you, for that and your support, encouragement and friendship!
