The Stand
'The Stand', have you seen it? I read the book, actually two books, by Stephen King. the first he wrote they made him cut it by 300 pages. Then several years later, when he became famous, they published the second book with the original 300 pages back in it. I watched the movie today.
It is an excellent read and movie to watch. That is if you have the time, the movie is about 7 hours long, with no commercials. It is a story about the battle of good against evil. In one part where Mother Abigail was talking to Nick about God, he said he didn't believe in God and she laughed. She said 'that's alright, you don't have to believe in God, because He believes in you' Wow I thought that was a profound statement. And He does believe in us, and He is so faithful to love us no matter what.
I have to say ,in my opinion, this is Stephen Kings absolute best book. I have read many of his books and have seen many of the movies. ' The Stand ' stands out over them all. It's the ultimate battle of wills. Brings up a lot of good points as to where our loyalty lies. When we have to chose a side which side will we pick. Good or evil?
I choose good. I saw a quote the other day, ' I'd rather live my life as if there is a God and get to Heaven to find there isn't , than live my life as if there isn't a God and get to Heaven and find out that there is.' This movie definitely has a whole lot of people that did not believe in God. There is much good in this movie, people living and doing as they should, and on the flip side there is plenty of evil, wow is there ever.
Of Course in the end, good wins out over evil. I have heard say, 'what the devil meant for evil, God will turn it around into something good.' It is true, I have seen it happen. I have watched this movie probably between 5 and 10 times and it is so good every single time. It never disappoints me. If you get a chance, watch it. It is well worth the viewing. Just regular folks fighting the good fight. Kind of like what we do every single day in our own lives, We all have struggles, but if we listen to that still small voice inside of us, we will make the right choices and they will be good choices. Watch the movie, read the book. You won't be disappointed either.
