The Terminator Movie Review
R
I love this movie. it's both an awesome action-thriller movie, and a smart science-fiction movie. There were few of those by the time Terminator came out. Terminator is probably partially responsible for many other good action sci-fi films that came after. The franchise started by this movie is important to the entertainment industry, and science fiction in general.
The acting is quite good. There are a few gaffs here and there, but overall, everyone did a good job. Linda Hamilton and Michael Beihn, the main protagonists, both do excellent jobs, making us feel for them. Arnold is good as the emotionless and intimidating villain.
The story is interesting. It draws you in, makes you care about what's happening, and gives a deep background to the action happening. The writers do an excellent job of balancing action, character moments, and science fiction concepts, as well as the occasional comedic bits. The hunt for Sara Connor is tense, and makes us worry for her. There's a steady stream of revelations about the characters, and the main plot. The ending is a bit of a surprise, and a bittersweet victory. I love the second one, too, but I actually like this a bit more. Everyone should watch it at least once.
Overall: 10/10
