The Top 5 Best Songs by The Killers

Updated on August 15, 2014

The Killers are an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. They were formed in 2001 and have 4 members: Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer, and Ronnie Vannucci Jr.

Since The Killers are one of my favourite bands I thought I'd make a short list of their 5 best songs.

This is, of course, entirely subjective. Your top 5 might be entirely different. You might not even like 5 of their songs. That's fine.

As always, comments are welcome. If you think there's a song missing from this list, or one that doesn't deserve to be there, tell me. I'd love to hear your opinion.

5. Read My Mind

Album: Sam's Town

"It’s funny how you just break down
Waitin' on some sign
I pull up to the front of your driveway
With magic soakin' my spine"

4. Human

Album: Day & Age

"Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance
They always did the best they could"

3. Smile Like You Mean It

Album: Hot Fuss

Honestly, I could have had every song on this list be from Hot Fuss, and I'd have felt justified in doing it. It really is one of those standout albums, a real masterpiece. Most albums, they rise and fall, have good songs and bad songs and "meh" songs. Some are full of great songs, but don't make a great album. Some are great albums, but none of the songs really do much for you. Hot Fuss though...

Hot Fuss is that rare, almost legendary creature. It is, dare I say it, a perfect album. Not only is each and every song exceptional, but played together, from start to finish, they create something even better. The whole is, somehow, greater than the sum of its parts.

Anyway, this song may not be the most well known, but it certainly should be.

2. Bones

Album: Sam's Town

Very simple. Very loveable. Very cheesy. Great tune.

"An angel whispers my name,
but the message relayed is the same:
“Wait till tomorrow,
you'll be fine."
But it's gone to the dogs in my mind."

1. Mr Brightside

Album: Hot Fuss

Can you believe it's been 10 years since this gem was released? Time flies.

Mr Brightside is not only one of the most popular songs around, it's also a personal favourite of mine. It thoroughly deserves its place on the top of this list.
