The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, movie review
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
2010, PG-13, ***
Starring: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Dakota Fanning
The Saga continues. More vampire sightings, more fighting scenes, and more protecting and fighting over, Bella (Kristen Stewart, “Panic Room,” “The Runaways”). The spunky Victoria was replaced by director Ron Howard's daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Village," "Lady in the Water"). She is convincing enough as a manipulative female vamp, who wants to turn everyone into vampires in the Seattle area to build a clan against the Cullen's, well especially Edward since he murdered her boy toy.
This is the best film in the series, so far. There is more action, more humor, and more back and forth between Jake (Lautner, “Valentines Day,” “The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl”) and Edward (Pattinson, “Remember Me,” "Bel Ami"), and my especially favorite scene is when they are all 3 in the tent, Jake and Ed are protecting Bella. The conversation between Edward and Jake - great stuff! I also really like how the Cullen siblings share their stories regarding how they got to the Vamp stage, and give Bella some insight on what she would be giving up, once she “changes.”
You should check this one out On Demand, or if it's in Redbox! Or if you own it already, then watch it again, during your marathon, of all 4 Twilight-ers! The last installment Breaking Dawn, Part II, hits theatres November 2012.
