The Wintry 200 Mile Road Trip

Updated on May 7, 2012

This is a gallery and memoir of one of my fondest road trips From Dehradun to New Delhi with my friend Amit Chand back in January 2011.

We started at 7 30 in the morning and were to come across a dream we would cherish all our live

Here is an effort to share my memories with my hub family...:) Enjoy

Source

The Lush greens of Doon

Source

Our all time partners.... the farms so fresh and clogged by fog in the morning

The only railway halt we stopped at... Amit Chand went off to unload his stomach in the bushes ... lol! While I stood and just looked at the fog covered landscape :)

Source

Me... dressed up to protect myself from the cold wind.... Alongside's Chands Cruiser....amid the beauty of nature

Source

I definitely look like a terrorist!!

LOL

Source

Both Me and Amit enjoy hot Chai... along with a cigarette each at a local roadside joint in Haridwar... 50 miles from Doon...

It's chilling

Source
Source

On the NH.. Look at the speed meter.... at 100 kmph!!! the wind tore through our skin.... and road just went on.... It was mesmerizing

Source
Source

The Sandalwood Farms were ecstatic too see...... Moreover, the mist was all the more adding to the charisma of nature...!!!

Source

On the Delhi Border now.... the journey is about to end..... Stopping for the last fags before entering the National Capital!!

Did not wish this journey to end... The cold was forgotten amid the beauty of nature and the awesomeness of the Bike Ride....

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my memories :)))

Great hub, Rahul! Beautiful pictures. I've been to India only once in my life in 2008 - to visit my mother's side of the family in Bangalore. Your pictures and narration remind me of the road trip to Mysore my cousins took me on. India is a great lively place with pretty incredible stories and very interesting people.

      "Our all time partners..." lol!

      Thanks for sharing!

Hi Rahul! Your misty morning long bike rides got you these nature's early morning kiss with the cold mist photographs. Thank you for sharing!

I know how the feeling is to get up early for a road trip. I've traveled the same with my family back in the Phils. for a Holy Week vacation north of my city. Having to get up at 4 a.m. was very hard, but I enjoyed so much for the trip even before the sun rises...fresh air, mist, fog, cool breeze, quiet and peaceful road, got me all awake so I don't miss the beauty of early morning. Then, the sun rises rejoicing above the serene and calm blue sea!

Thanks for sharing the photos, I love photos. (Pass-by some of my travel posts if You have time. I have lots of photographs as it is one of my hobbies). They might lure You to come visit the Americas lol.)

Thanks for this hub. Great road trip and interesting photos.

I loved the picture of the Train Stop. I have heard that your railroads are still very important venues for travel. In the States, passenger rail travel is barely an afterthought these days. It's complicated to traverse the country and very expensive.

Have you made any long distance travels on the railroad?

you are absolutely right Rahul, road trips in the morning are a great ride, amidst the beauty of nature, the cold breeze gushing through your breath, gently caressing your hair, the feeling is beyond awesomeness

You are right Bill! We have the second largest and the second most active rail network! Rail travel here is relatively cheap... and I have had a few long rail trips my self!

Railways are very important here, you have more than 1 million passengers who travel each day!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving such insightful remarks!
