Actor Tommy Ford, Passed away at 52-years old
Twitter blew up Wednesday morning with tweets reporting 52-year old actor Thomas Mikal Ford had passed away. Family members of the Martin actor spoke out against this, stating that the actor was on life support, and had not yet passed. Ford was hospitalized on Sunday after having an aneurysm rupture in his abdomen.
Ford's good friend and co-star Tichina Arnold, the actress who played Ford's girlfriend Pamela James on the TV show Martin, flew out to Atlanta to stay close to Ford. In an interview with PEOPLE, Arnold stated, “My heart is with the family and I just hope everyone respects their privacy at this time."
Premature reports of Ford's death were linked to actor Anthony Anderson, who posted on twitter that his friend, and co-actor, had passed away. Ford's family spoke out earlier today, stating the actor was on life support in grave condition. Since his arrival to the Atlanta area hospital, his health has continued to deteriorate. His family remains by his side in the hospital, continually praying for his recovery. They were unsure whether or not the actor would make it through the day.
The initial tweet has been removed. Anderson posted a new tweet, apologizing for posting inaccurate information. Just a short time ago, at 4:50PM EST, the family confirmed that Tommy Ford passed away in an Atlanta metro area hospital.
Joe Pervis, Ford's representative, confirmed the actor's death in a statement issued earlier today. The family also stated, "it is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son, father, brother, husband, and friend."
Throughout the past few weeks, Ford was documenting his journey of recovery from a knee replacement surgery on his Instagram social media. His admission to the hospital over the weekend was the result of a complication developed from the surgery.
Aside from working alongside Martin Lawrence in the 90s hit Martin, Ford also appeared in Who Did I Marry, Baby Mama's Club and starred as the Pope of Comedy in Who's Got Jokes.
