Top 10 Christian Songs to Touch your Soul

Updated on July 26, 2014

Are you tired after a really busy day?

If so, you need to slow down a bit, and get that galloping heart rate down. You probably have a lot of emotions within that need to be purged. There are probably loads of things in you that you've wanted to express to others, but haven't been able to, because you are always sorely short of time and energy.

Sit back and let yourself calm down. Take a deep breath, hold it for 4 seconds, and let it out slowly.

Now you are prepared to listen to some meaningful Christian songs that will make you value yourself better and feel better overall about your life situation.

Having faith is a huge struggle for most people. There are loads of circumstances we encounter in life, that make us lose sight of what we yearn for the most: a fulfilling life and not merely an existence.

When a crisis of faith is encountered, there simply are no answers to be found, and nothing seems to make things better, and one is totally lost. At such times, probably the only thing one can do is to cry out to the skies above, earnestly, expressing the inner anguish that has killed all peace of mind.

Whether one accepts it or not, suffering is a part of life, and it never leaves till death.

This song, sung by a Catholic priest from New York, Fr. Stan Fortuna, explains the ever present reality of suffering, and why you need to embrace it and move on, sharing the burdens of others.

There is nothing quite an experience of the living and rejuvenating presence of God. David MacDonald, the singer, yearns for the presence of God in all the unusual situations that the world throws at its denizens.

It takes immense strength to forgive another. Jesus did it, and invites us to do the same.

Forgiving is very difficult. This song, sung by Glen La'rive is a plea to the eternal father requesting the immense strength it takes to forgive another.

The audio is not of the best quality, but good enough to experience the power of this song, sung by Abey Kalliseri.

Very often, we are not in control of our situations, and are forced to do things we regret later. As a result of our actions guilt engulfs us and pulls us down. At such times, we must reach out to God, because he loves us with a love that is constant. We must never flee from the provider of solutions. In any case, we will have to come to him later. There's no other way.

This a power-filled Rock version by Kutless of 'Take Me In'.

The lyrics are clear enough. When we sincerely seek the Lord, he will most certainly reveal his holy presence to us. He sees us.

This a popular Tamil song written by Fr. 'Thisai' Jerry that echoes the message of all of us to God. The message that, at the end of the day, when all is done and dusted, only he is permanent and never changing. That is why we always need to be getting back to him. Everything else is transitory. Only God is real.

Christianity is a religion of community, where people are friends who support each other in moments of difficulty and weakness. This lovely song by Lounge Worship conveys the same message.

You needn't face your battles alone. You have the love of God with you, and beautiful people filled with wonderful and enlightening experiences.

This is another song by Lounge Worship.

Often, in our Christian journey, we feel exposed and in peril. At such times, it appears as if we are all alone.

At such times, making use of all our seemingly limited reserve of courage, we need to proclaim, "I will not fear fire".

Difficult experiences strengthen us and make us self-assured. That is what this song does too.

At the very top of the list, is a song that has touched the writer's heart countless times.

This version of 'Mary did you know' was sung many years ago by Kenny Rogers and Wynona Judd.

The singers wonder what the experience of the Virgin Mary would have been, in the era, and in the household of the Lord. Would she have expected her little baby boy to do the world-changing things that he eventually did? Would she have known, back then, over 2,000 years ago, that her son would one day be the most uttered name in history? Would she have known that the flock he would create as a young man would grow by leaps and bounds well into the distant future?

We can only wonder, and marvel at a humble young girl who was open to the plan of God despite all the doubts and fears she encountered within. She is an example of faith, which is taking the presence and support of the Heavenly Father for granted, and moving ahead in everyday activity with this assurance.
