Top Six TV Show DVD Sets

Updated on May 25, 2015

The Prime Time Alternative

The weekend is coming and you will have time to kick back and relax and watch some TV. Contrary to popular belief, not all of us want to watch the endless sea of reality TV shows, sports, and non-entertaining television in our free time. It occurred to me one day while out shopping for DVD's that the box sets of your favorite TV series and shows could be a thing of the past. Could owning a physical copy of any show or series be in danger of disappearing off the shelf in stores following the rise of inexpensive streaming services like Hulu, Netflix and even YouTube?

These new streaming services are constantly adding new titles and shows from the 1980s and '90s, most of which had only been available as box sets available in retail stores or to buy from online stores. The latest and arguably one of the most popular TV series ever to be available online is The X Files, which started in 1993, is bound to gain a strong following of online streamers and viewers anticipating revisiting all 202 episodes of Agent Mulder and Scully's alien adventures. So why buy the box set when you can just stream it online and get a whole lot of other content as well? The success of the online streaming services industry could mean the demise of being able to buy physical box sets of shows like Martin, Seinfeld, Sex And The City or even Mash, in the future.

Thank God for DVD box sets! You can kick back and choose to watch back to back episodes of your favorite shows in one night. We have listed our favorite DVD sets of all time. Go and get them, some good movie food and enjoy! If all good things must come to an end, then all mediocre things must end abruptly! So tell Snooki and the Kardashians goodbye. . .

Daria: The Complete Animated Series

One of the best underrated animated series ever televised. Daria is about a shy, sarcastic, intelligent teenage girl and her daily life with her family, her artistic best friend and her entire high school experience. Its the perfect show for girls to watch that are around 7th, 8th and 9th grade as there are no girls on TV like Daria today. Once you watch it, you will watch every episode.

The Walking Dead Seasons 1-4

Need your zombie fix? Look no farther than The Walking Dead Series. Documenting the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, the story follows a group of survivors who travel together seeking refuge from the violent zombies who roam everywhere they go. The story line and the action are 5 stars. Do not watch with the lights off...

Pushing Daisies Seasons 1 & 2

Pushing Daisies was a great show that ended to soon but the show had a genius outline. A baker who solves murder mysteries by bringing the dead back to life for a minute at a time and helping to bring them justice. A show with a strong following but was ended way to soon but still enjoyable.

The Arrested Development Complete Series

Arrested Development is one of the finest TV comedies to come along in a long time. The show follows the Bluth family, a formerly wealthy and highly dysfunctional family and their daily lives trying to stay a intact family. With a ensemble cast and exceptional writing, the show is a very entertaining comedy.

The Big Bang Theory DVD Set

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows that comes along only once in a lifetime. Two colleagues that are best friends and roommates who are also friends with their two Caltech colleagues who spend time working on their individual work projects, video games, watching science-fiction movies, or reading comic books. As they are all self-professed nerds that have little or no luck with popular women, in comes a pretty woman and an aspiring actress moves into the apartment across the hall. Do we really need to discuss the greatness of this show...

Better Off Ted Seasons 1 & 2

Better Off Ted is another critically acclaimed comedy series that ended before it could truly shine... A science company manager tries to keep control of his co-workers while being pressured by his rude boss... It's a funny, smart, rude and socially insensitive single camera show with no laugh-track and great acting...
