ReModeled

‘ReModeled’ is set to premiere on January 17 in the 9/8c timeslot on The CW. The show is hosted by modeling expert Paul Fisher, who will try to bring hundreds of small modeling agencies around the world together in one large agency called ‘The Network’. This project is beneficial for Fisher because it will give him the chance to change the modeling industry, but it will also be beneficial for the smaller agencies because Fisher will help improve their business credentials. The show is co-created and co-produced by Fisher himself and a few well known producers in the business.

This show has the same vibe as most of the other fashion related television series. The contestants are being heavily criticised under the pretext of helping their agencies. But the design of the show seems to be a little different, rather than focusing on being pretty it focuses on building a good company. The show might not be my cup of tea but I’m sure that this show will entertain quite a few people around the world.

The Frame

UPDATE: On March 23rd, The CW announced that 'The Frame' got shelved. This means that it won't go into production anytime soon. Now, the question is if it will ever be produced at all.

One of the better reality shows for coming TV season might just be 'The Frame'. The show is scheduled to air during the 2011-2012 TV season on The CW but an exact date is still unknown. 'The Frame' follows eight teams of two players with an existing relationship. Each team has a camera installed in their home, which is filming a fixed frame and if the teams move out of this frame, they are out of the game. During 30 days the teams will have to compete in challenges and face eliminations. Which team is going to be eliminated depends on their popularity with the viewers. The team that outlasts all the others will win the grand prize of 1 million dollars. The show is produced by July-august Productions, also known for various popular shows like 'Hole in the Wall' and 'The Office'.

This show has a lot of potential, because it actively involves the viewers. On the website you can watch clips and maybe even live streams of all the teams. The two teams that have the least views and thus are the least popular will have to battle to stay in the game. So, it is up to the teams to keep their frame as interesting as possible at all times. Added to that it is always interesting to see how people react to being stuck in the same place with the same people for a long period of time. That part of the show is, of course, reminiscent of ‘Big Brother’, which was a huge success.

Fashion Star

In this new show on NBC Elle Macpherson (‘Britains Next Top Model’) will search for the next big brand in the fashion industry. Professional designers Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos will each mentor the 14 unknown designers who got the chance to win a multi-million dollar prize to launch their collections in three of America’s largest retailers (Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue). Each episode will start off with a fashion show in front of an live studio audience. The shows will feature clothes the designers made for the weekly challenge. NBC will premiere the show on March 13 in the 9/8c timeslot.

There are a lot of fashion shows in television these days, and many of them require apprentice designers to create clothes which will be judged by people in the business. ‘Fashion Star’ seems to be one of those shows but with a few extra features. Each episode will start with a huge fashion show, which will include musical performances, dancers and models. These features might just set this show apart from all the other fashion shows, if so this can be a great television show, but if not, this one will probably not be around for long.

Which of the upcoming reality series listed above do you like best?
