Watch Dumplin On Netflix
The 2018 American movie Dumplin’ is now on Netflix. It’s a coming of age comedy, directed by Anne Fletcher, written by Kristin Hahn, and starring Danielle Macdonald, Jennifer Aniston and Odeya Rush. It is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Julie Murphy.
The movie is about an overweight teenager named Willowdean Dickson (Macdonald), nicknamed Dumplin by her mother Rosie Dickson (Aniston) and called Will by her skinny best friend Ellen Dryver (Rush).
Dumplin’s mother is an former beauty pageant contestant who now judges beauty pageants. Dumplin was closed for her aunt Lucy Dumplin (Hilliary Begley) who taught her self confidence, introduced her to her best friend Ellen and inspired her love of Dolly Parton.
Dumplin is bullied at school and called Whale. She is suspended from school for sticking up for another overweight girl who was being bullied. She hit the bully. She enters a beauty pageant which inspires the other overweight girl that she was stuck up for to also enter. This was a really good movie and makes me want to read the book.
