What is Spotify?
Your Spotify.
Spotify is what the rest of the online radio stations and music sharing sites are not. As well as being completely legal Spotify is also FREE. It remains to be seen if it will stay free forever.
If you are like me then you will appreciate the up to date tracks that you can get with Spotify.
A premium music streaming site which can be integrated with Facebook and allow you to share music with friends. By giving you access to their playlists and they yours sharing tracks has never been simpler.
What do you get with the FREE version of Spotify ?
Perhaps the more likely question should be. What do you expect to get with the free version? With the free version you get a desktop only experience completely free of piracy. In order to make the service free you see and hear paid advertising in between your tracks, which, in my opinion is worth it to keep the service free.
With the premium version you get to use the service on all platforms including mobile or smart phones as well as mobile devices such as I-pod's and tablets. 5 million paying customers enjoying the service today started off using the free service. If you pay for the service your account is ad free.
Probably the biggest buzz is the fact that you have access to millions of tracks without fear of copyright theft prosecution.
Should I upgrade to Spotify Premium?
This is a good question. Let us discuss then, what the benefits are if you upgrade your Spotify Premium. It all depends what your needs are. Obviously if you want to use it away from home on your mobile or smart phone then you should consider paying the subscription fee which is around £80 per year. I have just discovered Spotify and I can't believe what a brilliant music platform it is. As I don't have a smart phone yet I see no need to upgrade. I certainly don't mind the unobtrusive adverts which cut in at the start of every second track or so.
If you like social networking you will love this.
One of the successes associated with Spotify is it's Facebook integration and the fact that it has become another social network
Copyright theft.
A raw subject to some, but, one that should be discussed. The people it most affects are the artists who have had their music stolen. As a writer you get it from time to time, the work which you put your heart and soul into stolen and copied. When it happens it is annoying. Imagine what it must be like to an artist. This is not so with Spotify.
In 2013 it is hard to believe all the associated bad press which has gone around along with prosecutions for copyright theft when all that was needed was a bit of advertising revenue to pay artists for placing their music on the site, enabling it to be shared free is amazing.
Thank you Mr Spotify whoever you are !
