I was asked by Skeletons, “In your opinion who do you think was the best James Bond?”  As soon as I saw this question I knew it was a good question because immediately I felt at a loss.  There have been six actors who have played the character of James Bond and of those six there are three that I truly adore.  But I knew that narrowing it down to just one that I would call best would be quite difficult.  Each actor has brought something unique to the role and being able to choose just one to say that they were the best would be truly hard.

SEAN CONNERY was born August 25, 1930 in Edinburgh, Scotland and starred in seven Bond films:

  1. Dr. No
  2. From Russia With Love
  3. Goldfinger
  4. Thunderball
  5. You Only Live Twice
  6. Diamonds Are Forever
  7. Never Say Never Again

GEORGE LAZENBY was born September 5, 1939 in New South Wales, Australia and starred in one Bond film:

  1. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

ROGER MOORE was born October 14, 1927 in LondonEngland and starred in seven Bond films:

  1. Live and Let Die
  2. The Man with the Golden Gun
  3. The Spy Who Loved Me
  4. Moonraker
  5. For Your Eyes Only
  6. Octopussy
  7. A View To A Kill

TIMOTHY DALTON was born March 21, 1946 in Wales and starred in two Bond films:

  1. The Living Daylights
  2. License to Kill

PIERCE BROSNAN was born May 16, 1953 in Ireland and starred in four Bond films:

  1. Goldeneye
  2. Tomorrow Never Dies
  3. The World is not Enough
  4. Die Another Day

DANIEL CRAIG was born March 2, 1968 in Cheshire, England and starred in two Bond film:

  1. Casino Royale
  2. Quantum of Solace

Upon reviewing these six actors it is easy for me to take three out of the running; George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig. I would get rid of George Lazenby simply because he was only in one movie and although he brought a younger Bond into character in my opinion this decision cannot be made on one film alone.  When it comes to Timothy Dalton I simply think that he was unable to capture the Bond character.  As for Daniel Craig I personally think he has some work to do to be in the same league as my top three; Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

Why I like Sean Connery

I like Sean Connery as James Bond because of his nonchalant attitude, his smile and wit.  He was a bit stubborn and always got his way.  His looks and attitude were the complete package and Connery made the Bond role completely believable.

Why I like Roger Moore

I like Roger Moore as James Bond because he was handsome and suave. Roger Moore gave James Bond a lighter and relaxed tone to the character especially with his tongue-in-cheek humor. Even though Roger Moore was older than Sean Connery, Moore brought a youthful vibe to the Bond character.

Why I like Pierce Brosnan

I like Pierce Brosnan as James Bond because he was dignified and energetic. Pierce Brosnan brought a new sexiness to the character without taking away from what both Connery and Moore brought to the roles.

My top three Bond actors are, Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.  All three have a certain sex appeal and carry the role well.  Although every actor has brought their own specialness to the role I have to say that my all time favorite Bond is Roger Moore.  For me Moore brought classiness to the role that I enjoyed watching.  This also might be because when I first started watching Bond films I was introduced to Roger Moore and then became interested in the older films that I was too young to see. To be honest this is truly a hard decision to make because even though they were playing the same character they are all so different, convincing and good, but extremely different in my eyes.

So for me the answer to the question would be a close tie between Sean Connery and Roger Moore with Pierce Brosnan an extremely close second.
