5 Anime Like One Piece

One Piece is one of the most successful anime of all time. After 14 years and 500+ episodes, One Piece is still going strong, with its viewers still anxiously awaiting for its weekly episode. It has a rich story with an immense cast, to whom you are going to find yourself attached with after watching this amazing shounen anime.

The story revolves around a crew of pirates led by Monkey D. Luffy. They are on a quest to find One Piece, the greatest treasure in the world, which was owned by Gol D. Roger, the King of Pirates, who announced that his treasure was up for grabs after his death.

Monkey D. Luffy sets off on a journey to find One Piece, and to meet new friends along the way. He meets several people and invites them to join his crew, and thus begins a series of unforgettable experiences. They find themselves in trouble seemingly all the time, but their camaraderie shows through and they manage to be triumphant and move on with their journey.

One Piece is simply amazing, and you are missing something truly great if you haven't watched this anime yet.

Fairy Tail

A fantasy anime like One Piece

One Piece is to pirates, while Fairy Tail is to wizards. You can easily see similarities between these two anime, from its plot to its characters.

The story features Lucy Heartfilia, a 17 year old wizard who wishes to be part of the infamous wizards' guild, Fairy Tail. This dream of hers makes her run away from home and embark on a long journey. She stumbles upon Natsu Dragneel, a wizard travelling with Happy, a blue flying cat.

A wizard posing as Salamander of Fairy Tail appears before Lucy and abducts her. Natsu goes on to rescue Lucy, and reveals to her that he is the real Salamander and Dragon Slayer. Natsu then invites Lucy to join Fairy Tail, marking the beginning of their exciting adventures together.

Naruto

An adventure anime like One Piece

If you love Monkey D. Luffy, you are going to like Naruto as well. They share a strikingly similar personality. Both are hard-headed boys with a never-back-down attitude.

Naruto Umazaki lives in Konoha, the Hidden Leaf village. The town is attacked by the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, Kyuubi, destroying the village and killing many inhabitants. The Fourth Hokage sacrifices his life to seal the demon fox inside the newborn Naruto.

Naruto eventually learns from his teacher, Iruka Umino, that Kyuubi is sealed in his body. He then strives to become the Hokage of Konoha, meeting several friends, as well as enemies, throughout his path.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

A supernatural anime like One Piece

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is another favorite shounen series among the anime community. It is highly regarded as one of the best action anime ever.

The story follows Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse. They are masters of alchemy, the art of transforming objects into another. They attempt to bring their mother back to life through alchemy, but this leads to a tragic accident that leads to Elric losing his right arm and Alphonse's soul getting affixed to a suit of armor.

Edward then goes on a quest with Alphonse to search for the Philosopher's Stone, a powerful object which would grant them the ability to recover their bodies.

Soul Eater

An action anime similar to One Piece

Soul Eater is a great anime that has its similarities with One Piece, mainly about the protagonists' never-give-up personalities and emphasis on the value of friendship.

The action happens at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, headed by Shinigami. It features three teams, each consisting of a weapon meister and a human weapon. Their goal is to collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, to turn their weapons into death scythes, weapons that are perfect for the use of the headmaster, Shinigami.

The characters engage in a series of battles, trying to accomplish their goal; all this while attempting to protect their school from invasive creatures.

Hunter x Hunter

A shounen anime like One Piece

Another character that is going to remind you of Luffy is Gon, the main protagonist of Hunter x Hunter. Despite his age, he chooses to take on risky adventures, all for the sake of seeing his father.

Gon has always believed that his father, Gin Freecs, a Legendary Hunter, died after a dangerous encounter while hunting. He eventually learns from his father's apprentice that Gin is still alive.

This pushes Gon to follow in the footsteps of his father and become a Hunter himself, believing that the skills he would learn would allow him to better take on his quest of finding his father. He passes the Hunter Exam, and goes on to meet several friends along his way.

But the question remains: Will he ever find his father again?
