If your TV is not movie ready, is there a way to use Amazon Fire and Amazon Prime to play movies?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'movie ready'. Is it an older television that isn't HD? Technically you can use streaming devices (that play Amazon Prime) on older televisions. You just need an adapter that attaches to an antenna out, rather than HDMI or component cables. For example, I stream amazon prime through my Playstation 3, which can be connected to a tv with almost any kind of cable. If it's an antenna cable, it just has to be specially purchased because they don't come with the devices anymore.
It is an HDTV that is about 10 years old. What do I need other than the Fire component and Amazon Prime? Thanks for response.
A wireless internet connection. Fire TV has a wireless card in it, so you can plug it directly into your tv and start watching. Fire Stick uses a separate computer and projects the image to your television.

Amazon Fire Stick - what is it?Long ago I purchased an expensive cable to play Netflix and Amazon from my smart phone to the television. Sadly I have never used it. Now there is something advertised called Amazon Fire Stick - what is this? Do I really need this or do I just need to connect my cable...

Just wanted to alert my fellow hubbers to this! If you have any, make sure to tell your kids that are in college. When you log into Amazon, you'll see an ad on the upper right hand side. Free Amazon Prime for a year! (No CC needed...it's usually $79 a year) Just enter your .edu address and confirm....

Is Amazon Prime worth the money?Do you find Amazon Prime worth the yearly fee? I started the trial to get free 2-day shipping, but don't know that is worth $80/year. Their free online streaming doesn't seem to be quite as extensive as Netflix.
