Bond... James Bond

Updated on July 11, 2013

The 2nd most successful movie franchise of all time is James Bond

Since 1962 the James Bond movies based on the fictional British spy created by Ian Fleming have drawn fans around the world. It's estimated that one out of every five people on the planet have seen at least one James Bond movie in their lifetime.

Bond is currently in his sixth incarnation, played by British actor Daniel Craig.

Development on the 23rd installment in the Bond franchise, SKYFALL, was a bit bumpy, but all those bumps seem to have paid off. SKYFALL has produced a bigger opening weekend than any previous Bond film and looks set to become the most lucrative film of the entire series! The film features supporting performances from Dame Judi Densch, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem.

Despite the label, this is a fan video and not truly an "official" music video for the song.

Animator Jennifer Shiman's wonderful 30-Second Bunnies Theatre just released their amazing (and 74.1 second long) Bunny Bond Medley, which touches on all the Bond films. Can you name all the references?

The Beautiful Bond Girls

To be a Bond Girl is to be beautiful and deadly. The deadly part refers to both the skills possessed by some of these female characters and to the fact that a variety of actresses have only ever been known for their Bond girl roles.

Being a Bond girl also often means you either get the guy, or you get a really interesting and tragic death as a character. Favorite variations on the Bond girl include a fellow secret agent, the hired help for the bad guy, the bad guy's girlfriend, or the daughter of a famous scientist.

You often also get a great character name as a Bond girl. Honey Ryder, Tiffany Case, Solitaire, Mary Goodnight, Holly Goodhead and Xenia Onatopp are just some of the buxom beauties who live in Bond's world.
