Children and Family Movies We Love

Between Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar, and Sony Pictures, there are more quality movies produced for children and the entire family. In terms of story line, redeeming family and morale values, they have produces excellent to outstanding movies. The world of animation has gone a long way and the picture quality has improved dramatically. This lens is a running list of some of the children and family movies we love and have watched more than once over the years. We even added a few to our DVD collection. We plan to add some more movies to this list. If your looking for some entertainment for the whole family, please check it out. Please vote for your favorites, as well.

The Little Mermaid


The Little Mermaid, one of the most celebrated animated films of all time -- and winner of two Academy Awards(R) (Best Music, Original Score; Best Music, Original Song, "Under The Sea," 1989) . Ariel, a fun-loving and mischievous mermaid, is off on the adventure of a lifetime with her best friend, the adorable Flounder, and the reggae-singing Caribbean crab Sebastian at her side. But it will take all of her courage and determination to make her dreams come true-and save her father's beloved kingdom from the sneaky sea witch Ursula!

In this Disney's lushly animated Mulan, the title feisty heroine doesn't quite fit in with her village's "proper" Chinese girls. However, when the country is invaded by brutal Huns, the odd-duck maiden springs into action, disguising herself as a man and taking her ailing father's place in the army. Together with a tiny dragon sidekick, Mushu, Mulan fights to protect the homeland and save her family. Mulan II, Mulan, the girl warrior become a bride, and do battle once more with the vicious Hun forces.

Monsters, Inc.


Every night, the professional scarers of Monsters, Inc., sneak into children's bedroom closets around the world, eliciting screams that they convert into the energy their world needs. Aside from a minor power shortage, life is just fine for top scarer James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (John Goodman) and his assistant, Mike (Billy Crystal), until a little girl named Boo accidentally finds her way into the monster world and into Sulley's heart.

Ice Age


With the impending ice age almost upon them, a mismatched trio of prehistoric critters find an orphaned human infant in this smash animated hit. Together, Manny the woolly mammoth (Ray Romano), Diego the saber-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) and Sid the giant sloth (John Leguizamo) become reluctant heroes and embark on an epic, hilarious journey to reunite the baby with his parents.

The Incredibles


Known to the world as superheroes, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, Bob Parr and his wife Helen were among the world's greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil on a daily basis. Fifteen years later, they have been forced to adopt civilian identities and retreat to the suburbs to live "normal" lives with their three kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction.

At New York's Central Park zoo, a lion, a zebra, a giraffe, and a hippo are best friends and stars of the show. But when one of the animals goes missing from their cage the other three break free to look for him, only to find themselves reunited ...on a ship en-route to Africa. There, they will learn what life in the wild is like.

March of the Penguins


In the Antarctic, every March since the beginning of time, the quest begins to find the perfect mate and start a family. This courtship will begin with a long journey - a journey that will take them hundreds of miles across the continent by foot, in freezing cold temperatures, in brittle, icy winds and through deep, treacherous waters. They will risk starvation and attack by dangerous predators, under the harshest conditions on earth, all to find true love.

The classic story of loyalty, trust, and sacrifice comes to life in this live-action adaptation. Fern (Dakota Fanning) is one of only two living beings who sees that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures – a spider named Charlotte – and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. When the word gets out that Wilbur's days are numbered, it seems that only a miracle will save his life. A determined Charlotte – who sees miracles in the ordinary – spins words into her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is "some pig" and worth saving.
