Don Johnson, Blood & Oil New TV Series

What's new with Don Johnson? Blood & Oil! The new television series Blood & Oil starring Don Johnson, and so far it is a hit new TV Series on ABC! I've seen 2 episodes and I can't wait to see the rest of this story! So nice to have Don Johnson back on the air and hope this is permanent! Damn but he looks so gooooood, mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!

I have always been a huge Don Johnson fan! I am a Miami Vice Junkie for sure! Don Johnson started gaining recognition through movies and several TV miniseries, such as the 1985 TV remake of The Long, Hot Summer and continued to work on stage, film and television.

My favorite Don Johnson role ever, the lead role of Detective James "Sonny" Crockett in the 1980s TV cop series, Miami Vice! Then there was Nash Bridges huge success and fame and in Nash Bridges. Do you know you can watch it right now? If you have cable, after 20 some years, you can watch reruns of Miami Vice on the Elrey cable channel. SO happy, I've been watching it all day!

Miami Vice, little did anyone realize at the time, the impact of this show. I remember NOT going out on Friday nights for a long time. I remember falling head-over-heels for Don Johnson! Those beautiful blue eyes, that face, his clothes, hair styles, sunglasses and the <b><i>beard stubble<b><i>, that is still popular today!

To see the fashions, hair styles, music and the scenery of Miami are fantastic! Let's not forget "Elvis" the alligator. YES there was "Elvis" the alligator!

If you are looking for reruns of Miami Vice to watch, you can find them on Elrey cable channel! I've been so happy to watch these shows again. They are sporatic but available!

Come back to find out what's new with Don Johnson!

Detective James "Sonny" Crockett

Undercover Cop

Miami Vice TV Show

After years of struggling to establish himself as a TV actor, in September 1984, Johnson's fortunes changed when he landed the starring role of Detective James "Sonny" Crockett in the 1980s drama television series, Miami Vice.

Johnson played an undercover police detective. He wore thousand dollar Versace and Hugo Boss suits over pastel cotton t-shirts, drove a Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona, followed by a Ferrari Testarossa and lived on a 42-foot (13 m) yacht with his pet alligator "Elvis".

80's Fashion

Don Johnson Fashion Style

Miami Vice started a new fashion style in men's fashion. Don Johnson's typical Italian sport coat, pastel shirt, white linen pants with slip-on loafers and no socks, became a huge fashion hit. Unconstructed blazers, shiny fabric jackets, and lighter pastels were the "approved" colors.

Sonny Crockett's unshaven appearance sparked a huge copy cat fashion trend of men not shaving and have that day old beard stubble. Don Johnson with that beard stubble? Very hot! Unshaven day-old stubble face hair is still very popular today,

During one episode, Crockett and Tubbs wore five to eight fashionable outfits each. Always dressing in shades of pink, blue, green, peach, fuchsia and the show's other "approved" colors. Fashion Designers were consulted in keeping the male leads looking trendy. Costume designer Bambi Breakstone, who traveled to Milan, Paris, and London in search of new clothes, testified that, "The concept of the show is to be on top of all the latest fashion trends in Europe". Jodi Tillen, the costume designer for the first season, along with Michael Mann set the style. The abundance of pastel colors on the show reflected Miami's Art deco architecture.

The Final Show - Freefall

My heart was breaking the entire two hours of this final show. I was trying to watch and pay attention. The whole time I just kept thinking, NO MORE? I was having such a hard time realizing there wouldn't be any more. I can finally get a life back on Friday nights but I didn't want to, I just wanted to keep watching. I will forever miss this show.

This video has a little bit of all the cast, I hope you enjoy it.

What Do You Think Of Don Johnson? - Take The Poll!

I adore this man! Way back then and still to this day! What do you think he did best? I used to give up my Friday nights to stay home and watch Miami Vice! Oh, I loved that show, I was heartbroken when they decided to take it off the air.

According to the poll results, you are agreeing with me.

Nash BridgesTV Show - DVD Collection Here

In Nash Bridges, Don Johnson is once again a TV cop with a whole lot baggage. He's divorced twice, has a teenage daughter, not easy to get along with, works with Inspector Joe Domingues, his brother is missing in the Vietnam War and his father suffers from mild dementia and later moves in with him. Whew!

In the 1997 Season 2 episode, "Wild Card", Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson reunite for the first time on television together since Miami Vice, with the Miami Vice theme playing in the background. Oh, I wish they'd just bring that show back, I am such a Miami Vice Junkie! Johnson compared Bridges to his Miami Vice character Sonny Crockett, saying Nash was "the same guy, just... ten years older.
