Introducing The Doctor Who Box Set

I am a massive fan of the TV Program Doctor Who. That of course means that I own several Dr Who Box Sets of DVDs. Those go right back to the days of William Hartnell with classics like The Planet Of the Giants and of course an Unearthly Child.

I also have several Bluray Box Sets from the reboot of the program but in the last few days I have discovered THE definitive Doctor Who Box Set. In truth I think calling it a Box Set hardly does it justice.

This Box Set has just been revealed and has to be the definitive Dr Who Gift for the true Doctor Who fan! I am talking about Doctor Who Series 1-7 Limited Edition Blu-ray Giftset.

This set is the first time that the BBC has combined all seven of the new Doctor Who seasons in one collection. The complete set features 29 blu ray discs with episodes, special and bonus features.

What Is Included In The Doctor Who Box Set?

Not only do you receive a huge amount of Doctor Who television entertainment you also get a large assortment of Doctor Who paraphernalia. In addition, there are some very special bonus shows that have been remastered in a way that has never been seen before. I am completely in awe! This is definitely on my Christmas Wish List as it will be for many Dr Who Fans.

Completely Remastered Seasons 1 – 4

The gift set collection includes a completely remastered version of seasons 1 – 4. In this new blu ray version of the seasons they are featured in 1080p high definition. In the past the first four seasons of Doctor Who were only available in standard definition. This is an opportunity for Doctor Who fans to experience the Chris Eccleston and David Tennant episodes in a way that they haven't seen them before.

Series 5 to 7 In High Definition Too!

Series 5 - 7 featuring Matt Smith are also in blu ray 1080p high definition which of course means that the episodes are incredibly crisp with vivid color.

Doctor Who Ultimate Lists Of Lists

In the Doctor Who Ultimate Lists Of Lists Asha Leo is joined by John Barrowman, star of Torchwood and Doctor Who, to announce the lists of lists.

Included among the lists are the top five best monsters, top five guest stars, top five scariest moments, and top five companions. The lists are based on voting by readers of the Anglophenia blog on BBCAmerica.com.

Sonic Screwdriver Remote Control Included

I also love that they have included with the collection is an 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Remote Control. This remote control typically retails for $100 and so is a very nice addition to the pack. Along with the sonic screwdriver, the BBC has also included a Doctor Who comic book and 3 exclusive art cards.

Doctor Who At The Proms 2010

We have watched the Doctor Who Proms ever since they started and they are just amazing. You will get the opportunity to enjoy the 2010 Prom which is a concert featuring music from the television show. Doctor Who at the Proms 2010 featured Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams . The music was performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the London Royal Albert Hall.

The show featured video projections and a special guest appearance by the 11th Doctor Matt Smith. This is the first time that Doctor Who At The Proms has been released in 5.1 Surround Sound and featuring the entire 90 minute concert. I can guarantee that you are in for an absolute treat. It is just wonderful to see the audience reaction especially from the kids as the Cybermen stomp through the Albert Hall!

Doctor Who - The Best Of The Christmas Specials

This show features the best moments from the Doctor Who Christmas Specials. Included on the disk are celebrity, comedy and sci-fi fans who discuss their favorite moments from the Matt Smith and David Tenant arcs on Doctor Who.

120 Minutes Of Bonus Material

Also included in the pack are 120 minutes of unmissable bonus material. Included among the bonus material is deleted scenes and out takes, prequels, feature length specials and featurettes, behind the scenes footage and video diaries. Essentially everything a true Doctor Who fanatic needs to know about seasons one through to seven.

With this Doctor Who box set the BBC has gone to great lengths to give fans the ultimate Doctor Who experience. If you have only ever viewed the seasons in standard definition, you will be astounded by the difference that the high definition blu ray makes to the show.

While most people will buy the gift set so that they or the incredibly lucky gift recipient can enjoy all of the shows in one collection, the additional material alone makes this worth purchasing.

The behind the scene footage, deleted scenes and video diaries allow fans to experience these seasons in a much deeper way. Overall this boxed set is unmissable for true Doctor Who fans.

Very tempting! Now that Harry Potter films have finished I'm on the look-out for a really good Christmas day film treat. This Dr Who might just tick the box.

I don't think we have Dr. Who here but you certainly make this show sound very exciting. I know it has a lot of fans out there.
