Dr Who Products

Updated on October 12, 2014

Products of Doctor Who!

Dr Who Products; Now as I am a gadget guy I can relate to some of these products, and having grown up in the U.K. I always looked forward to a Saturday afternoon when BBC aired the Doctor, a long running science fiction TV program.

Dr Who is a Time Lord who does some serious time travel utilizing various products to assist him on his way to all these unexplored regions of the universe where he meets with some shady characters who are mostly interested in the destruction of civilization.

His time machine, commonly referred to as the "Tardis", has the appearance of an old British Police Box that soars through the time vortex. Armed with many nifty devices and normally a beautiful companion the Doctor encounters a variety of foes and works his magic.

Part of British popular culture, he has and is still spreading to other regions where it has become quite popular with many cultures!

Fasten your seat belts, your about to learn all about the Dr Who Products that are available and experience the time vortex!

Time Travel - A Little History!

  1. Doctor Who first aired on British Television (BBC) on 23 November 1963
  2. To date there has been a total of Eleven (11) Doctors
  3. Dr Who had originally been aired as an educational program for a family audience, where his time travel was to be used for the exploration of scientific ideas and famous times throughout history.
  4. The introduction of the series most popular monsters, "The Daleks" had originally been rejected because the powers to be did not want any "bug-eyed monsters" appearing.
  5. As a co-production between Fox, Universal Pictures, and the BBC, the television film of Dr Who, after negotiations, was aired on the Fox Network in 1996.
  6. It is said that the first episode of Dr Who had been delayed by approx 10 min minutes due to the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy which occurred the previous day.
  7. Only two Dr Who feature films have been released; Dr. Who and the Daleks, and Daleks - Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D

Don't poke the Daleks!

The Dalek!

The "Daleks" probably the greatest enemy of Dr Who, are genetically modified from their original forms "extraterrestrial Kaleds" and appear with tank like robots form, who are determined on conquering the entire universe without compassion or remorse.

Popularly known for their catchphrase "Exterminate!" the Daleks are equipped with a mechanical like eye which is mounted on their rotating dome head, immediately below is their death ray and a telescopic arm with what can only be described as a "toilet plunger" attached.

Daleks are extremely aggressive, their voices are harsh and rough toned which can be deafening when in large numbers, they have a solid and strict command structure, obeying orders without questioning.

The Tardis!

Travel in Style!

The "Tardis", the Doctors time machine, has the appearance of an old British Police Box that is capable of soaring through the time vortex to any time and destination in the universe.

The exterior gives a false impression to it's actual size, the interior is much larger and houses various rooms and corridors which include a power station disguised as an art gallery, a study area, a library, greenhouse, bathroom, medical room, living/bedroom, squash court, and even a swimming pool, in addition there are storage areas and a well equipped console room or command center which houses all the controls.

The Tardis's considered impenetrable, best defenses is the force-field and that it can actually become invisible, it also has another form of defense shield to protect it when traveling through the time vortex.

The programming of the Tardis comes in various forms, either by operating manually, automatically or utilizing the Emergency programming, and during it's travels by whatever means, should it happen to go adrift when in the time vortex, the Tardis will automatically land on the nearest planet sending location details back to the Doctor on his sonic screwdriver if he is ever separated from it.

I remember watching the original on PBS years ago. My daughter got into Dr. Who to keep up and having someting to talk about with the boys at youth group. We've watched every episode on netflix. When the youth group took a trip to England this last year, one of the souvenirs she came home with was a Dr. Who poster.
