eBay Auction: Walt Disney's Cinderella Lobby Card 1950
Occasionally I like to feature one of my eBay items in a Hub. I want to keep my articles informative and entertaining, but sometimes I have a unique item I would like to share with my readers. I have just listed a rare 1950 original Walt Disney's Cinderella Lobby Card. It is an 8x10 on glossy photo paper. The scene shows Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother, the Pupmkin Coach, and the Four Mice. It was originally distributed by National Screen Service, Inc. I am selling this on consignment for a valued client. There were two different 1950 lobby cards in the lot. I will list the second one after the first auction completes.
I saw this film as a child in the late 1960's, along with Bambi and many of the other Disney classics. We would go to the local movie theater, The Laurelhurst Theater, which was about four or five blocks from where I grew up. My memories of these years have mostly faded, but I remember that an outing to the theater was a big event. The Laurelhurst was originally built in 1923 and was a single-screen theater which could seat 650 people. It had a fantastic colored neon marquee which added to the excitement even before you entered the lobby. Going there really was a great family experience. The theater fell on hard times in the 1970s, fell into disrepair and started showing adult XXX films. The big Hollywood blockbusters (think Stallone in Rambo) of the 1980s helped it get back on track. They subdivided the theater into several small screens to help increase revenue. And in the 1990s and 2000s it saw a rebirth as an "art house" cinema showing classics and "indies" and they began serving food and spirits. The grand neon lights were restored and the theater started to have family appeal again.

I have posted a preview photo of the other Cinderella lobby card here. It is also an 8x10 from the 1950 original set. This one shows Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing in the ballroom. I will see how the first auction goes before starting this one. Hopefully there are a few people out there who will be interested in these items - something from childhood to keep the magical movie memories alive...
