I don't know if it affects behavior, but I believe it can totally change your mood - usually from bad to good.  The Doobie Brothers said it best:  Music Is The Doctor!

Of course it does. I have been at pleasant gatherings where someone has decided they simply had to play something deeply serious like Joy Division. You could feel the mood darken. I worked at a restaurant where the day manager insisted on playing hard rock. When AC/DC or Nirvana came on, conversation stopped, people ate faster and left quicker, and those in line were decidedly testier. When she left, we switched to soft rock. People talked more, ate more, stayed longer and were more pleasant when listening to groups like the Eagles and Seals and Croft.
