As a long-time Mariners fan, I'm happy. Ichiro has been a great player for us, but he's been steadily declining for two years. He's been standing in the way of several of our promising young prospects, and he prevents Eric Wedge from putting out the lineup he would like to use. Now, Zduriencik can build the team and Wedge can manage it without having to tiptoe around the elephant in the room.
I'm upset about it. I have been paying less and less attention to baseball over the years and this isn't really helping. I feel like you, huntnfish, a little bit disgusted. If Ichiro wasn't worth keeping, I'm pretty sure the Yankees wouldn't have snagged him.
