Should a musician cross genre's often thru career?

I always felt there should be no drawn lines as to distinction of being caterogorize as being described as a pop, r&b, country. Personally I think music is universal in lyrics and rhythm encompassing all races and gender. With that being said if an artist has the vocal ability to try another genre than they should. I think that would take the surprises out if someone song pop for many years to try country, I think it may throw a curve for many listeners. That's my thought what do you are thinking?

The essence of being an artist is that you are naturally creative with what you do. It makes sense that music artists should go whichever direction they feel will help them become more creative and add something good to the world.

I agree with your  answer to this topic, an artist should be creative and decide what direction career wise they should go.
